Zaranie Śląskie
''Zaranie Śląskie'' (Polish for "Dawn of Silesia") was a Polish quarterly literary magazine devoted to the culture and history of Silesia. It was founded in 1907 by Ernest Farnik and published in Cieszyn. It focused on the region of Cieszyn Silesia, however since the 1930s gradually left this area of interest and focused more on Upper Silesia. ''Zaranie Śląskie'' published historical and folkloristic articles, literary works, folk songs etc. Many well-known regional writers and activists contributed to the magazine, e.g. Ludwik Brożek, Emanuel Grim, Andrzej Hławiczka, Paweł Kubisz, Jan Łysek, Antoni Macoszek, Julian Przyboś, Oskar Zawisza and others. The publishing of the magazine was resumed after World War II. Oskar Zawisza
Oskar Zawisza (23 November 1878 – 18 January 1933) was a Polish Catholic priest, composer and educational activist. Biography Zawisza was born on 23 November 1878 in Jablunkov. He was son of a teacher from Jablunkov. Zawisza finished German gymnasium in Bielsko and Theological faculty in Olomouc. He was a pupil of Czech composer Josef Nešvera. Zawisza was ordained as a priest on 23 July 1902. Then he became curate in Petrovice u Karviné, Dolní Bludovice, Niemiecka Lutynia, Strumień and Cieszyn. On 1 July 1911 he became a rector in Těrlicko. He collaborated with ''Gwiazdka Cieszyńska'' and ''Zaranie Śląskie'' magazines. ''Zwrot'' (meaning "The Term or The Phrase") is the main and largest Polish magazine in the Czech Republic, chief magazine of the Polish minority in Zaolzie. It appears monthly, with a circulation of 1,600 (2019). Published by the PZKO (The Polish Cultural and Educational Union), it is financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Julian Przyboś
Julian Przyboś (5 March 1901 – 6 October 1970) was a Polish poet, essayist and translator, one of the most important poets of the Kraków Avant-Garde. Life Przyboś was born in Gwoźnica near Strzyżów to a peasant family. From 1912, he attended the Konarski Secondary School in Rzeszów. A supporter of socialist ideals, in 1920 he volunteered for the Polish Army during the Polish–Soviet War. In 1920–1923 he studied Polish studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Przyboś worked as a teacher in Sokal (1923–1925), Chrzanów (1925–1927), and Cieszyn (1927–1939). In Cieszyn, he published his works in ''Zaranie Śląskie'' (Silesian Dawn) (1929–1938). He also published in many other magazines before and after World War II. In December 1939 Przyboś relocated to Lviv. In 1941 was he arrested by the Gestapo, the Nazi German secret police.
