Yasmani Acosta
Yasmani Acosta Fernández (born 16 July 1988) is a Cuban-born naturalized Chilean Greco-Roman wrestler who currently competes at 130 kilograms. Acosta qualified Chile for the 2020 Summer Olympics by winning the gold medal from the 2020 Pan American Olympic Qualification Tournament. Competing for Chile since 2017, he has claimed the 2018 South American Games gold medal, prestigious bronze medals from the 2017 World Championships and the 2019 Pan American Games and has also become a two–time Pan American Continental Championship medalist, earning silver in 2017 and bronze in 2018. Competing for his native Cuba, Acosta most notoriously became the 2011 Pan American champion. Career Acosta started wrestling in Cuba when he was 10 years old. Agramonte (Jagüey Grande)
Agramonte is a Cuban village and ''consejo popular'' ("people's council", i.e. hamlet) of the municipality of Jagüey Grande, Matanzas Province. With a population of 10,502 it is the most populated village in the municipality after Jagüey. History Founded in 1859 with the name of Cuevitas, it was renamed after Ignacio Agramonte, a Cuban revolutionary and patriot during the Ten Years' War (1868-1878). The 2020 Olympic Wrestling Pan American Qualification Tournament was the first regional qualifying tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The event was held from 13 to 15 March 2020, in Ottawa, Canada. Qualification summary A total of 36 athletes secured a spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo. Chile competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the nation's debut in 1896, Chilean athletes have appeared in all but five editions of the Summer Olympics of the modern era. The 2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships was the 35th edition of Pan American Wrestling Championships of combined events. It was held from May 5 to 8 in Acapulco, Mexico. The event was originally scheduled for Santiago, Chile, before being moved to Acapulco. A press release issued in February 2022 stated that "The requirement decided by the Ministry of Health (Chile), Chilean Ministry of Health did not guarantee the participation of all countries."
