Agramonte (Jagüey Grande)
Agramonte is a Cuban village and ''consejo popular'' ("people's council", i.e. hamlet) of the municipality of Jagüey Grande, Matanzas Province. With a population of 10,502 it is the most populated village in the municipality after Jagüey. History Founded in 1859 with the name of Cuevitas, it was renamed after Ignacio Agramonte, a Cuban revolutionary and patriot during the Ten Years' War (1868-1878). Until the 1976 reform, Agramonte was an autonomous municipality that extended in the northern area of the municipal territory of Jagüey Grande. Geography Agramonte is located in the middle of an agricultural plain, between Perico and Jagüey Grande (both 17 km far). It is 20 km far from Jovellanos, 25 from Colón, 28 from Pedro Betancourt, 38 from Calimete and 72 from Matanzas. Matanzas
Matanzas (Cuban ) is the capital of the Cuban province of Matanzas. Known for its poets, culture, and Afro-Cuban folklore, it is located on the northern shore of the island of Cuba, on the Bay of Matanzas (Spanish ''Bahia de Matanzas''), east of the capital Havana and west of the resort town of Varadero. Antonio Ramon Horta AG7
Antonio Ramon Horta AG-7 is a medical school in Cuba that contains 315 Pakistani students. The campus is located in Agramonte, which is a small town and a hamlet of Jagüey Grande, in Matanzas Province. The campus has more than twenty professors. Overview Due to poor facilities in AG7, the students forced government to be shifted to medical university near to a hospital. The school has been evacuated and the students shifted to Sancti Spiritus and a provincial hospital with better facilities. Cienfuegos (), capital of Cienfuegos Province, is a city on the southern coast of Cuba. It is located about from Havana and has a population of 150,000. Since the late 1960s, Cienfuegos has become one of Cuba's main industrial centers, especially in the energy and sugar sectors. The city is dubbed ''La Perla del Sur'' (Pearl of the South). Aguada de Pasajeros () is a municipality and town in the Cienfuegos Province of Cuba. Geography The municipality is divided into the town of Aguada and the villages of Carreño, Real Campiña, Covadonga and Perseverancia. Güines
Güines is a municipality and town in the Mayabeque Province of Cuba. It is located southeast of Havana, next to the Mayabeque River. It is the most populated town, but not the capital, of its province. History The city was founded in 1737 by the Spanish. Prior to the arrival of the Spanish, what is now Güines was part of a region ruled by the Indian chief Habaguanex. One of the earliest mentions of the word Güines is in 1598, when Don Diego de Rivera or Ribera was awarded a land grant for ''Los Güines Corral''. Güines can be considered one of the primary points of Cuba's transformation into a sugar-producing slave society in the wake of the Haitian Revolution. Its demographics radically changed as a result.
