Yvette Ngwevilo Rekangalt is a dynamic Gabonese businesswoman, bankruptcy lawyer (Administration (law), law administrator) for the court of Libreville, human rights leader. She worked for 25 years as a jurist in the oil and gas industry. She has been a member of the African Union's Economic, Social and Cultural Council representing Central Africa for three terms, as well as chairperson of the Infrastructure and Energy Committee. She ran for office during the 2009 Gabonese election before vanishing from the political scene after the results. She is still very active in business and social activities. FEMNET, also called the African Women's Development and Communication Network, is an organization established in 1988 to promote women's development in Africa. FEMNET helps non-government organizations share information and approaches on women's development, equality and other human rights. Activities FEMNET was originally set up in 1988 by national women's networks to co-ordinate African preparations for the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing, China, in 1995. The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) is an advisory body of the African Union designed to give civil society organizations (CSOs) a voice within the AU institutions and decision-making processes. ECOSOCC is made up of civil society organizations from a wide range of sectors including labour, business and professional groups, service providers and policy think tanks, both from within Africa and the African diaspora. Port-Gentil () or Mandji is the second-largest city of Gabon, and it is a leading seaport. It is the center of Gabon's petroleum and timber industries. The city is located on a delta island in the Ogooue delta with no bridges to the mainland. Nearby Cape Lopez is Gabon's westernmost point. As of 2013 census, it had a population of 136,462. History In 1473, the Portuguese navigator Lopo Gonçalves sailed near Cape Lopez. In 1722, pirates led by Bartholomew Roberts fought a battle in the Cape Lopez Bay against the Royal Navy.
