Ypsonas FC ( el, Ύψωνας FC) is Cyprus, Cypriot Association football, football club based in Ypsonas of the Limassol District. Until May 14, 2019, the name of the club was Enosi Neon Ypsona-Digenis ( el, Ένωση Νέων Ύψωνα - Διγενής Ύψωνα). History The club was founded in 2014 after the merger of two clubs: Enosi Neon Ypsona and Digenis Akritas Ipsona. Sotira ( gr, Σωτήρα) is a village located partly in the Limassol District of Cyprus, and partly in the British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, west of Limassol, near Episkopi, Limassol, Episkopi. Sotira Culture Sotira Culture (Ceramic Neolithic Period) 5000 - 4000 BCE filled the gap left by the abandonment of Khirokitia Culture sites. The culture appears to have formed about two centuries after the first influx of pottery on the island, brought in by a new wave of settlers who arrived around 5250 BC. Some sources place the rise of the Sotira at a later date, around 4500 BC, but most seem to agree that there was a gap of about five hundred years between the fall of the Khirokitia and the very first appearance of the Sotira. Saint George ( grc-gre, Γεώργιος, Geṓrgios, la, Georgius, ar, القديس جرجس; died 23 April 303), also George of Lydda, was a Christian who is venerated as a saint in Christianity. According to tradition he was a soldier in the Roman army. Saint George was a soldier of Cappadocian Greek origin and member of the Praetorian Guard for Roman emperor Diocletian, who was sentenced to death for refusing to recant his Christian faith.
