Youth Law Australia
Youth Law Australia, formerly The National Children's and Youth Law Centre (NCYLC) is a Community Legal Centre which supports children and young people in Australia. It is the first community legal centre of its kind in Australia. Youth Law Australia is located within and supported by the University of New South Wales. Youth Law Australia provides free legal advice to children and young people under 25 across Australia through its innovative online delivery model. It also advocates for the rights of young people in Australia and conducts research on law reform. In 2020-21, Youth Law Australia worked on 2799 legal matters for 1655 clients. The War Widows' Guild of Australia NSW Ltd is a not for profit membership-based organization whose mission is to promote and protect the interests of war widows in New South Wales. Established by women and for women in June 1946 the Guild has fought over the years to improve the financial and social circumstances of members. After years operating as an incorporated association, the NSW Guild became a public company limited by guarantee in 1998. It is a public benevolent institution with deductible gift recipient status. History Mrs Jessie Vasey established the War Widows' Guild of Australia in Victoria in 1945 to bring war widows together to support each other and to speak with one voice to improve their circumstances. Our Big Kitchen
Our Big Kitchen, abbreviated as OBK, is a charity based in Sydney, Australia that provides a large commercial grade kitchen for community use. The kitchen facilities are used by various community groups to prepare and distribute meals. The community kitchen concept is similar to that of a soup kitchen, but incorporates volunteer and common-effort aspects closer to that of a community garden. Housed in the Yeshivah Centre, Sydney, Our Big Kitchen, a project of the Sydney Jewish community, is accessed by a large spectrum of both Jewish and non-Jewish community groups. OBK was founded by Rabbi Dovid Slavin and Laya Slavin in February 2005. Services The kitchen has a kosher kitchen. Women In Prison Advocacy Network
Women's Justice Network (WJN), formerly known as the Women in Prison Advocacy Network (WIPAN), is an incorporated not-for-profit charity based in Sydney, Australia, focused on advocacy around issues affecting female prisoners. History WIPAN was founded in 2008 by Kat Armstrong, Carol Berry, Marissa Sandler and Nicki Petrou, and is managed by a volunteer Management Committee, (The Board). WIPAN's co-founder Kat Armstrong was the organisation’s volunteer Director/CEO from early 2008 to January 2016. The organisation expanded in 2014, thanks to a grant from the Department of Family and Community Services (NSW), and from early 2016, a new CEO, mentoring coordinator and housing and family coordinator were all able to be employed.
