Yorkshire Vikings
Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of 18 first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Yorkshire. Yorkshire are the most successful team in English cricketing history with 33 County Championship titles, including one shared. The team's most recent Championship title was in 2015, following on from that achieved in 2014. The club's limited overs team is called the Yorkshire Vikings and its kit colours are Cambridge blue, Oxford blue, and yellow. Yorkshire teams formed by earlier organisations, essentially the old Sheffield Cricket Club, played top-class cricket from the 18th century and the county club has always held first-class status. Acklam Park
Acklam Park is a rugby union and cricket ground located in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. Initially opened in 1929, the venue has hosted games of Middlesbrough RUFC since the ground's opening in 1929, as well as Middlesbrough Cricket Club since 1932. Yorkshire County Cricket Club also played a number of first class matches at Acklam Park between 1956 and 1996. With a capacity of 5,000, the ground initially cost £1,200 in construction cost upon its opening. History Middlesbrough RUFC purchased a 12-acre field in 1928 for a fee of £1,200. The club paid 13 shillings, club members paid £500 and £800 was loaned from the Rugby Football Union. The Circle, Kingston Upon Hull
The Circle was a cricket ground on Anlaby Road in Kingston upon Hull, which hosted 89 first-class matches from 1899 to 1974. Two other matches were rained off without a ball being bowled. Most of the matches were County Championship games featuring Yorkshire County Cricket Club, but matches against touring teams from India, Australia, South Africa and University games were also played there. 19 List A one day games were also played at the venue from 1969 to 1990. St George's Road Cricket Ground, Harrogate
St George's Road Cricket Ground in Harrogate hosted 98 first class matches between 1882 and 2000. It hosted a woman's Test match starting on 1 August 1998 between England women and Australia women. It had a capacity at its peak of 8,000 spectators. The two bowling ends are known as the St Georges Road End and the Pavilion End. Yorkshire twice posted scores of 500 on the ground, 548 for 4 declared against Northamptonshire in 1921 and 513 for 7 declared against the Combined Services in 1954. In contrast Worcestershire were bowled out for 42 by Yorkshire in 1923, while the home side were dismissed for just 50 by the touring West Indians in 1906. Yorkshire were dismissed for only 76 by Surrey in a List-A match in 1970. Park Avenue is a sports ground on Horton Park Avenue in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England that has been used for cricket, football and both codes of rugby. Yorkshire regularly played cricket matches at the ground between 1881 and 1996, while the site was also home to former Football League club Bradford (Park Avenue), to which it lent its name. The cricket pitch remains intact, but the adjoining football stadium has been demolished and replaced with a gym and cricket nets. North Marine Road Ground, formerly known as Queen's, is a cricket ground in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It is the home of Scarborough Cricket Club which hosts the Scarborough Festival and the Yorkshire County Cricket Club plays a series of fixtures in the second half of the season each year. Sheffield Cricket Club
The Sheffield Cricket Club was founded in the 18th century and soon began to play a key role in the development of cricket in northern England. It was the direct forerunner of Yorkshire County Cricket Club and some of the teams fielded by Sheffield were styled Yorkshire.
