Yo Yo Band
Yo Yo Band is a Czech band from Prague formed in 1975 by Richard Tesařík, Vladimír Tesařík, Ondřej Hejma, and Julius Novotný Kuzma. The group achieved the peak of its success in the 1990s, with such hits as "Karviná", "Jedem do Afriky", "Rybitví", and "Kladno". History Formation, early years: 1975–83 In 1975, brothers Richard and Vladimír Tesařík, together with Ondřej Hejma and Julius Novotný-Kuzma, formed Yo Yo Band as a vocal quartet in Prague, and began by playing soul and gospel songs. They remained in this formation until 1980, when Novotný-Kuzma was replaced by Jindřich Malík and Luděk Walter took the place of Hejma. They had an accompanying band for a while, which included Miroslav Linhart on guitar, and they adopted a reggae style into their musical repertoire. The Anděl Awards ( cs, cena Anděl) is a Czech music award ceremony organized by the Czech Academy of Popular Music. Czech National Symphony Orchestra
The Czech National Symphony Orchestra (ČNSO or CNSO) ( cs, Český národní symfonický orchestr) is a Czech symphony orchestra based in Prague. The orchestra principally gives concerts at the Smetana Hall, Municipal House (''Smetanova síň Obecního domu''). The CNSO also performs at the Rudolfinum. History In 1993, trumpet player Jan Hasenöhrl and Zdeněk Košler formed the CNSO, with Košler as the orchestra's first chief conductor. Košler held the post until 1996. From 1996 to 2007, the American conductor Paul Freeman was chief conductor of the CNSO. Since 2007, Libor Pešek is the orchestra's chief conductor. He is scheduled to stand down from the post after the 2018–2019 season. In March 2019, the CNSO announced the appointment of Steven Mercurio as its next chief conductor, effective with the 2019–2020 season. Janek Ledecký
Jan Ledecký (born 27 July 1962), better known as Janek Ledecký, is a Czech singer, songwriter, guitarist, and composer born in Prague. After graduating from Karla Sladkovského high school, he attended the law faculty of Charles University in Prague, earning a degree in law. Since 1981, he has played in the multiple award-winning rock band Žentour as lead vocalist and guitarist. In 1992, he launched a solo career, which he maintains to this day, having released over a dozen successful albums. He has also written and performed in several musicals, including ''Galileo'', ''Hamlet'', and ''Iago''. Ledecký has been a judge on the Czech singing show '' Tvoje tvář má známý hlas'' since 2016. Lucie (band)
Lucie () is a Czech rock band. After an initial period of stabilization of band members and musical style (1985-1987), they entered the music scene with their first single "Pár fíglů" in 1988. Over the next sixteen years, the band released seven studio albums, two concert albums, and one compilation album. On 2 October 2004, the group entered a "planned creative break" that ended in December 2012. History Formation and breakup Lucie was founded by guitarist Robert Kodym and bass guitarist Petr (Břetislav) Chovanec (P.B.CH.), who had been performing together in the band Prášek. They eventually came up with the idea to form their own band. It was the year 1985, and the duo added Tomáš Waschinger on drums. Sto Zvířat
Sto zvířat is a Czech Republic, Czech club band which plays ska and reggae music. The band was formed in 1990 in Prague on the base of rock 'n' roll band Matěj Čech. The band performs on many festivals e.g. Zámostí, Rock for People, Sázavafest, United Islands of Prague, Mezi ploty, Colours of Ostrava, etc. History Drummer Jan Kalina, Kalina and saxophone player Tomáš Belko, Belko began to compose music during their student's years in Matěj Čech rock 'n' roll band (founded in 1983). Laura a její tygři ("Laura and her tigers") is a Czechs, Czech musical group influenced by the funk, soul (music), soul, jazz and rock (music), rock. Profile In 1985 Karel Šůcha founded the group "Laura a její a tygři" at the ''Neprakta club'' in Most (city), Most, Czech Republic. UB40 are an English reggae and pop band, formed in December 1978 in Birmingham, England. The band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved considerable international success.
