Yisrael Borochov
Yisrael Borochov (born in Tel Aviv in 1950), is an Music of Israel, Israeli musician, composer, and arranger. Biography Borochov was born in Tel Aviv, and raised in Tiberias. He is a self-taught musician who plays the fretless bass guitar, double bass, the Hammered dulcimer, dulcimer, jumbush, and percussion. He played in an Israel Defense Forces, IDF army band, and recorded with musicians including David Broza and Yehudit Ravitz. Borochov was one of the original founders of The Natural Gathering (''HaBreira Hateeveet'') with Shlomo Bar, and played in and arranged the group's first two albums. Borochov founded the East West Ensemble in 1985. Over his 40-year-long career Borochov has merged East and West concepts and rhythms with his group, the East West Ensemble. ''Steal the Sky'' is a 1988 HBO movie directed by John D. Hancock and starring Mariel Hemingway and Ben Cross. The film is based on the true story of Iraqi fighter pilot Munir Redfa, who defected by flying a MiG-21 fighter jet to Israel in 1966. Night Ark is an instrumental quartet formed in 1986. The members are American-Armenian Ara Dinkjian, Turkish Armenian Arto Tunçboyacıyan, American-Armenian Armen Donelian and American Marc Johnson. The Israel Festival ( he, פסטיבל ישראל) is a multidisciplinary arts festival held every spring in Israel. Its center is Jerusalem. The festival operates as a non-profit organization. Omer Avital (born May 13, 1971, Givatayim, Israel) is an Israeli-American jazz bassist, composer and bandleader. Early life Avital was born in the town of Givatayim to Moroccan and Yemeni parents. At age 11, he began his formal training, studying classical guitar at the Givatayim Conservatory. Upon entering Thelma Yellin, Israel's leading high school for the arts, Avital switched to acoustic bass and began studying and arranging jazz. When he was 17, Avital began playing professionally in jazz, pop, and folk music bands, as well as performing regularly on national television, radio, and in jazz festivals. Emanuel Amiran-Pougatchov (Hebrew: עמנואל עמירן-פוגצ'וב; born Emmanuel Pugatschov; 8 August 1909, in Warsaw – 18 December 1993, in Kibbutz Yakum (or Yaqum)) was a composer and teacher. Sasha Argov
Alexander "Sasha" Argov ( he, סשה ארגוב, born Alexander Abramovich; Moscow, 26 October 1914 – Tel Aviv, 27 September 1995) was a prominent Israeli composer. Life and career Argov was born Alexander Abramovich in Moscow, Russia in 1914; later changing his last name to its Hebrew version, Argov, in 1946. His father was a dentist and his mother a concert pianist. He began studying the piano with his mother at the age of three, and at the age of six he began to compose music by ear which his mother transcribed into music notation for him. He had no formal education in music outside of his lessons with his mother. He migrated to Mandatory Palestine, British Palestine from Russia in 1934 with his parents. Moshe Wilensky
Moshe Wilensky ( he, משה וילנסקי, also, "Vilensky"; 17 April 1910 – 2 January 1997) was a Polish-Israeli composer, lyricist, and pianist. He is considered a "pioneer of Israeli song" and one of Israel's leading composers, and was a winner of the Israel Prize, the state's highest honor. Life Wilensky, who was Jewish, was born in Warsaw, Poland, the son of Zelig and Henia (née Liebman).
