Yesudasan
Chackalethu John Yesudasan (12 June 1938 – 6 October 2021), also known as Yesudasan, was an Indian political cartoonist from Kerala. He was the founding chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy and chairman of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. Early life Yesudasan was born on 12 June 1938 in Bharanikkavu near Mavelikkara in the Alappuzha district of modern day Kerala to Chakalethu John Mathai and Mariamma John. He completed his education in Bharanikkavu, Edappally, and Mavelikkara. He obtained his bachelor's degree from the Catholicate Faculty in Pathanamthitta. Career Yesudasan published his first cartoon in 1955 in a magazine called ''Asoka'' published from Kottayam. He entered the world of political cartoons in 1960, drawing for ''Janayugom'', the Malayalam daily of the Communist Party of India. Indian Institute Of Cartoonists
Indian Institute of Cartoonists is an organisation based in Bangalore that serves to promote and preserve cartooning and cartoonists in India. Founded in 2001, the institute hosts the Indian Cartoon Gallery with rotating exhibits focusing on different artists. It has organised more than one hundred exhibitions of cartoons. Founders and Brief History IIC was registered as a non profitable organization under Trust act in 2001 to promote the art of cartooning in India with B. V. Ramamurthy as the Chair person, V. G. Panchavadi Palam
''Panchavadi Palam'' () is a 1984 Indian Malayalam-language political satire film written and directed by K. G. George, based on the story ''Palam Apakadathil'' (1981) written by Veloor Krishnankutty. It stars Bharat Gopy, Nedumudi Venu, Sreenivasan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Sukumari and Thilakan in the main roles. The film tries to caricaturise the political scenario in the state of Kerala and portrays the pitiful corruption by politicians. It is the first Malayalam movie in this genre. Mavelikkara
Mavelikkara is a taluk and municipality in the ''Onattukara'' region of Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala. Located in the southern part of the district on the banks of the Achankovil River. The Kerala Cartoon Academy is an organization of cartoonists in Kerala, India. It includes free-lancers recognized by the Kerala State Government. Shankar's Weekly
''Shankar's Weekly'' was an Indian satirical magazine published between 1948 and 1975. It was founded and run by Keshav Shankar Pillai, a pioneering political cartoonist. The magazine has been compared to the UK's ''Punch''. The weekly printed its first issue in 1948 after Pillai left the ''Hindustan Times'' following pressure from ''Times'' editor Devdas Gandhi to stop publishing cartoons critical of C. Rajagopalachari, a prominent Congress leader. The magazine was launched by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, with whom Pillai shared a close friendship, even though Pillai described the magazine as "fundamentally anti-establishment". Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram
The Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram is the hub of media activities in Thiruvananthapuram, capital of Kerala. Established in 1965 with 20 members, which has now swelled into 350.
