Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram
The Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram is the hub of media activities in Thiruvananthapuram, capital of Kerala. Established in 1965 with 20 members, which has now swelled into 350. Governor Sahay addressed the first ‘Meet-the-Press’ program on 8 February 1967. History E. M. S. Namboodiripad, the Chief Minister of Kerala, laid the foundation stone of the Press Club Building on 17 April 1968, and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inaugurated the three storied building presently hosting the Press Club Thiruvananthapuram on 19 May 1969. Institute of Journalism The Institute of Journalism, Thiruvananthapuram the first journalism institute in India to be run by professional journalists, started functioning in 1968. The founder-director of the Institute was M Sivaram, who had worked with the Reuters. Oommen Chandy
Oommen Chandy, , (born 31 October 1943) is an Indian politician and statesman who served as the Chief Minister of Kerala for two terms, from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2011 to 2016. He was also Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2011. He represents Puthuppally constituency as MLA in the State Assembly since 1970. He is the longest serving MLA in the Kerala Legislative Assembly and the only Indian Chief Minister to achieve award for public service from United Nations. Shankar Dayal Sharma (; 19 August 1918 – 26 December 1999) was an Indian lawyer and politician from the state of Madhya Pradesh who served as the ninth President of India, from 1992 to 1997. Born in Bhopal, Sharma studied at Agra, Allahabad and Lucknow and received a doctorate in constitutional law from the University of Cambridge and was a bar-at-law from Lincoln's Inn and a Brandeis Fellow at Harvard University. Ajit Kumar Panja (13 September 1936 – 14 November 2008) was a Union minister of state in the Government of India. He was a member of Indian National Congress party but left it to join Trinamool Congress. He was born in Calcutta, and studied law at the Scottish Church College, Calcutta and at the Lincoln's Inn. His Native village was a small village in Burdwan district, named Majigram. A lawyer by profession, he authored many books.
