Yeovil Hospital
Yeovil Hospital, previously known as Yeovil District Hospital, is a hospital in Yeovil, Somerset, England, managed by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital has its origins in a general dispensary established at the suggestion of Dr Elias Taylor Warry in a cottage in Kingston in March 1858. This was replaced by a purpose-built facility at Batt's Corner known as Fiveways Hospital in 1872. This was, in turn, replaced by an improved facility in Bide's Gardens which was designed by Paul Waterhouse and officially opened as Yeovil General Hospital by the Prince of Wales on 19 July 1923. It joined the National Health Service in 1948. The current facility was designed by Sir Percy Thomas & Son and construction started in Higher Kingston in 1968. Somerset NHS Foundation Trust
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is a NHS foundation trust providing services for NHS England in Somerset, England. It manages a number of hospitals providing mental, community and acute hospital care across the whole county. In April 2023, the trust merged with Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to form a single trust covering the whole county. History The trust was formed from the merger of Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust on 1 April 2020. In September 2021 it opened a new diagnostic centre on the outskirts of Taunton near the M5, operating in partnership with Rutherford Health. Royal London Hospital
The Royal London Hospital is a large teaching hospital in Whitechapel in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is part of Barts Health NHS Trust. It provides district general hospital services for the City of London and Tower Hamlets and specialist tertiary care services for patients from across London and elsewhere. The current hospital building has 845 beds, 110 wards and 26 operating theatres, and opened in February 2012. The hospital was founded in September 1740 and was originally named the London Infirmary. The name changed to the London Hospital in 1748, and in 1990 to the Royal London Hospital. The first patients were treated at a house in Featherstone Street, Moorfields. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom. Eva Luckes
Eva Charlotte Ellis Luckes (8 July 1854 – 16 February 1919) was Matron of The London Hospital from 1880 to 1919. Early life Eva Abigail Charlotte Ellis Luckes (she herself spelled her name Lückes with the umlaut) was born in Exeter, Devon on 8 July 1854 into an upper-middle-class family. Her father, Henry Richard Luckes, was a banker who had established a comfortable home for his family in Newnham, Gloucestershire. Miss Luckes, the eldest of three daughters, was educated at Malvern, Cheltenham College and Dresden. She suffered from some physical disablement and had a horse to help her travel about the countryside. After finishing her education she returned to Newnham and helped her mother run the house and visited the sick of the parish. It was this that developed her interest in nursing. Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust runs Yeovil District Hospital in Yeovil, Somerset, England. Yeovil ( ) is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the district of South Somerset, England. The population of Yeovil at the last census (2011) was 45,784. More recent estimates show a population of 48,564. It is close to Somerset's southern border with Dorset, from London, south of Bristol, from Sherborne and from Taunton.
