Xu Faguang
Xu Faguang (born 17 May 1987) is a Chinese racewalking athlete who specialises in the 50 kilometres race walk. He has represented his country three times at the World Championships in Athletics (2009, 2011, 2013), with his best finish being seventh in 2011. He is also a three-time participant in the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships, having entered in 2010, 2012, and 2016. He was a team gold medallist with China in 2010 and 2012. Racewalking
Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Referee, Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from up to 100 kilometres race walk, 100 kilometres (62.1 mi). There are two racewalking distances contested at the Summer Olympics: the 20 kilometres race walk (men and women) and 50 kilometres race walk (men only). Both are held as road events. The biennial World Athletics Championships also featured these two events, in addition to a 50 km walk for women, until 2019 World Athletics Championships, 2019. 2011 World Championships In Athletics – Men's 50 Kilometres Walk
The Men's 50 kilometres race walk event at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics was held on September 3 on a loop course starting and finishing at Gukchae – bosang Memorial Park in the center of Daegu. Yohann Diniz took the early lead, challenged by Nathan Deakes until Diniz was disqualified. Deakes continued to lead by as much as 30 seconds over Sergey Bakulin but began to falter with hamstring problems. First he was passed by Bakulin before dropping out. Bakulin stretched out to almost a 2-minute lead, between 40 and 45 km, only Jared Tallent looked like he had a chance, gaining several seconds per kilometer but not really enough to make a dent in the huge lead. 2013 World Championships In Athletics – Men's 50 Kilometres Walk
The men's 50 kilometres walk at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium and Moscow streets on 14 August. From the start on home soil, Russians Mikhail Ryzhov and Ivan Noskov took the lead, with Jared Tallent in tow. By 15K the three had broken away to a 12-second lead. Tallent began to fall back to lead a large chasing pack as the two men continued to set the pace. By the half way mark Grzegorz Sudol and Robert Heffernan, who had spotted the leaders 30 seconds earlier, joined world leader Yohann Diniz to form a 5-man pack at the front. By 35K roles had reversed, Heffernan was now leading the Russians, Diniz was exiting the back and Sudol was trying to hold on. Over the next 5K, Heffernan pushed the lead with Ryzhov, as Noskov and Sudol formed their own group now steadily losing ground. The 14th IAAF World Championships in Athletics (Moscow 2013) () was an international athletics competition held in Moscow, Russia, from 10–18 August 2013. Initially, Russia won the most gold medals to top the table for the first time since 2001. It was also the first time ever the host nation took the top of the medal table.
