Emil Adolf Rossmässler (''Emil Adolf Roßmäßler'', ''Emil Adolph Roßmäßler'') (March 3, 1806 in Leipzig – April 8, 1867 in Leipzig) was a German biologist. With Otto Eduard Vincenz Ule and Karl Johann August Müller, he was co-founder of the journal ''Die Natur'' in 1852 and 1859 the sole editor of the journal ''Aus der Heimath''.Andreas Daum, "Emil Adolf Roβmäβler", ''Neue Deutsche Biographie'', ed. In biology, a species is the basic unit of classification and a taxonomic rank of an organism, as well as a unit of biodiversity. Endemism is the state of a species being found in a single defined geographic location, such as an island, state, nation, country or other defined zone; organisms that are indigenous to a place are not endemic to it if they are also found elsewhere.
