Powder River Basin
The Powder River Basin is a geologic structural basin in southeast Montana and northeast Wyoming, about east to west and north to south, known for its extensive coal reserves. The former hunting grounds of the Oglala Lakota, the area is very sparsely populated and is known for its rolling grasslands and semiarid climate. The basin is both a topographic drainage and geologic structural basin, drained by the Powder River, Cheyenne River, Tongue River, Bighorn River, Little Missouri River, Platte River, and their tributaries. The major cities in the area include Gillette and Sheridan, Wyoming and Miles City, Montana. In 2007, the region produced 436 million short tons (396 million tonnes) of coal, more than twice the production of second-place West Virginia, and more than the entire Appalachian region. Willow Creek Mine
The Willow Creek mine is an in-situ leach (ISL) uranium mining project located in Powder River Basin in the state of Wyoming, United States. It comprises the Irigaray central processing plant and wellfields, and the Christensen Ranch ion exchange plant and wellfields. Local legend dictates the mine was conceived by a group of entrepreneurial plumbers, uniting under the banner of "The Cloggers". These reports are as of now unconfirmed. Project history The uranium deposits at Irigaray and Christensen ranches were discovered in 1973. In July 1974, Wyoming Mineral Corporation (WMC), a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Corporation, established a pilot uranium recovery plant at the Irigaray site. A commercial source material license was issued in November 1978. In 1982, operations ceased at the Irigaray plant and well fields, and the facility was placed on standby status pending improvements in the uranium market. During this period, the Christensen Ranch facility was developed under ...

Honeymoon Uranium Project
The Honeymoon Mine was Australia's second operating in-situ recovery uranium mine, beginning production in 2011. It is located in South Australia and is northwest of Broken Hill, New South Wales. Honeymoon is a sandstone-hosted paleochannel deposit. Operations at Honeymoon were suspended in November 2013, following difficulties in reaching production targets, high costs and a falling uranium price. The project was placed in care and maintenance, then sold by Uranium One (a 100% subsidiary of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation) to Boss Resources and Wattle Mining (as of March 2018 a subsidiary of Boss) in September 2015 for a sum of A$9 million. Boss Resources anticipates resuming production at the mine in 2019. History The Honeymoon deposit was discovered in 1972 by a joint venture (Minad-Teton-CEC JV) between Mines Administration (a subsidiary of CSR Limited), Carpentaria Exploration (subsidiary of Mount Isa Mines) and Teton Exploration Drilling Co (subsidiary of Unite ...
