Whistlefield Inn
The Whistlefield Inn is a Category C listed building in Whistlefield, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, about twelve miles northwest of Dunoon. Built in 1663, it was originally a drover's inn on the route between Strachur and Ardentinny.Colegate's Guide to Dunoon, Kirn, and Hunter's Quay'' (Second edition)- John Colegate (1868), page 53 It sits about from the eastern shores of Loch Eck. Loch Eck
Loch Eck (Gaelic: ''Loch Eich'') is a freshwater loch located on the Cowal peninsula, north of Dunoon, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is long. Along with Loch Lomond, it is the only naturally occurring habitat of the Powan (fish).Freyhof, J. & Kottelat, M. (2008''Coregonus clupeoides''.In:IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Version 2010.1. Ardentinny ( gd, Àird an t-Sionnaich or Àird an Teine) is a small village on the western shore of Loch Long, north of Dunoon on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scottish Highlands. Nearby is Cruach a Chaise (Cheese Hill), while on the opposite side of Loch Long is the village of Coulport, home of RNAD Coulport, the storage and loading base for the UK's Trident Nuclear Defence Force. Strachur; ( gd, Srath Chura) and Strathlachlan; ( gd, Srath Lachlainn) are united parishes located on the Cowal peninsula, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Strachur is a small village on the eastern coast of Loch Fyne. Geography Cowal is the large peninsula situated between Loch Long to the east and Loch Fyne to the west and bordered to the north by the arterial road A83. Strachur is located 7 miles south of the A83, linking Loch Lomond and A82 to Inveraray, Lochgilphead and Campbeltown, and is 18 miles north of Dunoon, the main town of the Cowal peninsula.
