George Bukator
George Bukator (April 24, 1913 – May 2, 1987) was a Canadian politician and Ontario political figure. He represented Niagara Falls in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1958 to 1971 as a Liberal member. He served with the Niagara Parks Commission for six years. He was also reeve of Chippawa from 1949 to 1958 and warden for Welland County in 1951. Bukator was the nineteenth mayor of Niagara Falls from 1973 to 1978. He died in hospital at Niagara Falls. Marineland Of Canada
Marineland (official name Marineland of Canada Inc.), is a themed zoo and amusement park in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The park has performing marine animal shows, sea mammal and land animal exhibits, and amusement rides. It keeps dolphins, sea lions, an orca, and beluga whales. The park also keeps bears, deer, and other land animals. It was founded and operated by John Holer, a Slovenian immigrant, from 1961 until his death in 2018. It is privately owned-and-operated by his family. The park's keeping of sea mammals is controversial, and the park is involved in several lawsuits related to the practice. The keeping of the sea mammals is opposed by animal rights activists and Marineland has been the site of numerous animal rights demonstrations. The Niagara Falls City Council is the governing body of the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The council consists of the mayor plus eight elected councillors representing the city as a whole. The last election was held in 2022, and the next will be held in 2026. History Members of city council were originally known as aldermen until 2006, when the terminology was updated to councillor. These councillors were elected through a ward system from 1970-2000, which meant that councillors represented local neighbourhoods within the city, as opposed to the city as a whole. However, in 2002, that was changed, so that the top 8 candidates were elected.
