Wanda (band)
Wanda is an Austrian indie pop band founded in Vienna in 2012. Their debut album ''Amore'' was released in October 2014 at Problembär Records and debuted at number 13 on the Austrian Albums Chart on 31 October 2014. Their single "Bologna" (which features that Italian city) was released in early 2015 and peaked at number 42 on 10 April 2015. Wanda's first tour took place in late 2014, with a second tour in February 2015, with locations in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland (i.e. the German Sprachraum). On 2 October 2015 their second album ''Bussi'' was released. They made a deal with Universal Music Germany. Their indie pop style is influenced by rock 'n' roll, as well as Austropop (Austrian singer-songwriters). They label their music as "pop music with ' Amore'". Ö3 Austria Top 40 is the official Austrian singles chart, as well as the radio show which presents it, aired Tuesdays on Hitradio Ö3. The show presents the Austrian singles, ringtones and downloads chart. It premiered on 26 November 1968 as ''Disc Parade'' and was presented by Ernst Grissemann. Viennese German ( bar, Weanarisch, Weanerisch, german: Wienerisch) is the city dialect spoken in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and is counted among the Bavarian dialects. It is distinct from written Standard German in vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Even in Lower Austria, the state surrounding the city, many of its expressions are not used, while farther to the west they are often not even understood. Austropop
Austropop is pop music from Austria, which came into use in the late 1960s, but had its heyday in the 1970s and early and up until the mid-1980s. Austropop comprises several musical styles, from traditional pop music to rock, and it also sometimes includes traditional folk elements such as yodeling. Neue Deutsche Welle does not count as Austropop, as it was definitely German and the lyrics were in Standard German, while Austropop artists made a distinction by decidedly using Austrian dialects for their lyrics. The movement is believed to have started in 1971 by Wolfgang Ambros with his song " Da Hofa", although this is debated.
