The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship (ADWPJJC), often simply called the Abu Dhabi World Pro, and from 2009 to 2014 known as the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Cup (WPJJC), is an international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition that takes place every year in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The tournament is organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) since 2012, attracting competitors from 60 countries across all belt levels. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ; pt, jiu-jitsu brasileiro ) is a self-defence martial art and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting (ne-waza) and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds. Carlos "Carlão" Alberto Santos (born February 14, 1976) is a 3-time World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu heavyweight champion. Career and accomplishments In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Carlson Gracie Academy Carlos's Jiu-Jitsu career started in 1993 at the famous Carlson Gracie Academy in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, under the supervision of Marcelo Alonso and Marcelo Saporito. He trained under Carlson Gracie until receiving his brown belt. Brazilian Top Team Thereafter, Carlos became a head coach of Brazilian Top Team (BTT), where he managed the Gi division. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ( ar, مُحَمّد بِن زَايد آل نَهيَان, Moḥamed bin Zāyed Āl Nahyān; born 11 March 1961), colloquially known by his initials as MBZ, is the third president of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi. Tarsis Carvalho Humphreys (born November 4, 1983) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. He became a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Fabio Gurgel, the co-founder of the Alliance Jiu Jitsu Team. Humphreys was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is one of Alliance's heavy hitter Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitors. From 1998 to 2009 he won a medal in whichever Black Belt adult division he entered.
