The World Poker Tour (WPT) is an internationally televised gaming and entertainment brand. Since 2002, the World Poker Tour has operated a series of international poker tournaments and associated television series broadcasting playdown and the final table of each tournament. The most prominent of World Poker Tour events belong to the WPT Main Tour. The WPT Main Tour focuses on the buy-in range of $3,500-$25,000, and winners of official WPT Main Tour events are awarded a membership to the WPT Champions Club. Career Dvoress was born in the Soviet Union and emigrated to Canada at the age of 8. He began playing poker in high school. Brian Altman (born 1988) is an American professional poker player from Longmeadow, Massachusetts. He has won three titles on the World Poker Tour (WPT). Poker career Altman earned a doctorate in 2012 from the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albany, New York. He began playing poker with his friends in high school after watching Chris Moneymaker win the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event, and moved to Montreal, Quebec after college to play online poker full-time. The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic is an annual tournament as part of the World Poker Tour that is played out at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It has been part of every season of the World Poker Tour after being the inaugural event in Season 1 (I) in 2002. History The World Poker Tour's first-ever event was the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic that began on May 27, 2002. Gus Hansen was crowned the first champion and also became the first player to final table this event twice when he finished third in Season 2 (II) behind eventual winner Paul Phillips. Season 2 (II) would see the date of the event shifted to December where it currently remains on the schedule every season.
