WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic
The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic is an annual tournament as part of the World Poker Tour that is played out at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It has been part of every season of the World Poker Tour after being the inaugural event in Season 1 (I) in 2002. History The World Poker Tour's first-ever event was the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic that began on May 27, 2002. Gus Hansen was crowned the first champion and also became the first player to final table this event twice when he finished third in Season 2 (II) behind eventual winner Paul Phillips. Season 2 (II) would see the date of the event shifted to December where it currently remains on the schedule every season. In Season 3 (III) the buy-in was raised from $10,200 to $15,300 and Daniel Negreanu won the event. The $15,000 buy-in remained through to Season 8 (VIII) before it was reduced back to $10,000. Dewey Tomko
Duane "Dewey" Tomko (born December 31, 1946, in Glassport, Pennsylvania) is an American former kindergarten teacher turned professional poker player, based in Winter Haven, Florida. Tomko was the runner-up in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 no limit Texas hold'em Main Event in 1982 (to Jack Straus) and 2001 (to Carlos Mortensen). Besides his success in the Main Event, Tomko has won three WSOP bracelets, all in different variations of poker, in addition to various other tournament wins throughout his career. Early life Tomko was born and raised in Glassport, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh (born September 26, 1974 in Rochester, New York) is an American professional poker player. Arieh has been competing in poker competitions since 1999. Tournament history Arieh finished in third place in the 2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and has a World Series of Poker title in Limit Texas hold 'em in 1999 and a 2nd-place finish at the 2000 World Series of Poker Pot Limit Omaha event to Johnny Chan. Daniel Alaei
Daniel Christopher Alaei (born 1982) is a professional poker player from Santa Fe Springs, California. He is of Assyrian descent. Primarily a $50–100 no-limit Texas hold 'em cash game player, Alaei won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2006 in a no-limit 2-7 draw Lowball event. He was featured on the first three seasons of ''High Stakes Poker''. David Y. "Chino" Rheem (born April 15, 1980) is a poker player from Los Angeles, California. In November 2008, Rheem finished in seventh place at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event, cashing for $1,772,650.
