Workers Power (Germany)
Workers' Power (german: ArbeiterInnenmacht) is the German section of the Trotskyist League for the Fifth International. It publishes two periodicals: the monthly newspaper ''Neue Internationale'' and the theoretical organ ''Revolutionärer Marxismus''. The origins of the group lie in the Spartacusbund, which existed until 1982. One faction in that organization had contacts with the British group Workers' Power so ''Arbeitermacht'' was founded. These two groups along with the French ''Pouvoir Ouvrier'' and the Irish Workers' Group founded the ''Movement for a Revolutionary Communist International''. Soon they found supporters in Austria, Peru, and Bolivia, so the movement renamed itself to ''League for a Revolutionary Communist International'', and after adopting a new program in 2003 it got its present name, ''League for the Fifth International'' (LFI). The League for the Fifth International (L5I) is an international grouping of revolutionary Trotskyist organisations around a common programme and perspectives. History L5I was founded as the Movement for a Revolutionary Communist International. Its first member groups were Workers' Power in Britain, the Irish Workers Group, Pouvoir Ouvrier in France, and Gruppe Arbeitermacht (GAM) in Germany. After a congress in 1989 the organisation adopted a common programme, the ''Trotskyist Manifesto'', and a democratic centralist constitution, under which each national section agreed to be bound by the decisions of the international organisation as a whole. Trotskyism
Trotskyism is the political ideology and branch of Marxism developed by Ukrainian-Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and some other members of the Left Opposition and Fourth International. Trotsky self-identified as an orthodox Marxist, a revolutionary Marxist, and Bolshevik–Leninist, a follower of Marx, Engels, and 3L: Vladimir Lenin, Karl Liebknecht, and Rosa Luxemburg. He supported founding a vanguard party of the proletariat, proletarian internationalism, and a dictatorship of the proletariat (as opposed to the " dictatorship of the bourgeoisie", which Marxists argue defines capitalism) based on working-class self-emancipation and mass democracy. Trotskyists are critical of Stalinism as they oppose Joseph Stalin's theory of socialism in one country in favour of Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution. Workers' Power (UK)
Workers' Power is a Trotskyist group which forms the British section of the League for the Fifth International. The group publishes the newspaper ''Workers Power'' and distributes the English-language journal ''Fifth International''. Origin The group originated in the International Socialists (IS) as the Left Faction. The Faction argued that IS needed a fully developed programme. It also criticised the stance IS adopted on the Provisional Irish Republican Army's paramilitary actions in 1972. In 1973, it set up a faction, then when it refused to dissolve in 1974 it was excluded from IS and formed the Workers Power Group. In 1975, it briefly joined with Workers Fight to form the International-Communist League which split into its constituent parts soon afterward. Binnen-I
In German, a medial capital I (German: ') is a non-standard, mixed case typographic convention used to indicate gender inclusivity for nouns having to do with people, by using a capital letter 'I' inside the word (''Binnenmajuskel'', literally "internal capital", i.e. camel case) surrounded by lower-case letters. An example is the word ''LehrerInnen'' ("teachers", both male and female). With a lower case I in that position, ''Lehrerinnen'' is just the standard word for "female teachers". The ' is a non-standard solution for how to economically express a position of gender equality in one German word, with an expression that would otherwise require three words. Since most English nouns (excluding pronouns) have no grammatical gender, words such as ''teacher(s)'', ''student(s)'', ''professor(s)'', and so on, can be used without implying the gender of the being(s) to which the noun refers. Revolution (political Group)
Revolution, or Revo, a revolutionary socialist youth organization, was founded in the UK by Workers Power, part of the League for the Fifth International. According to its statutes and manifesto it is organizationally independent from Workers Power, although there are disagreements about the degree of independence (independent members viewing it as subordinate to LFI, LFI arguing that since its international and national councils have sovereignty, it is independent). It has official sections in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Czech Republic, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the USA. It was formed in the mid-1990s at the beginning of the anti-capitalist movement in Europe. Participation in the EuroMarches in Amsterdam and support for the Liverpool Dockers strike were amongst its first campaigns.
