Woodman is a town in Grant County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 195 at the 2000 census. The Village of Woodman is located within the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 27.5 square miles (71.2 km), of which, 26.7 square miles (69.2 km) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (2.0 km) of it (2.80%) is water. Demographics At the 2000 census there were 194 people, 75 households, and 57 families living in the town. The population density was 7.3 people per square mile (2.8/km). Woodmen Hall (Stuart, Florida)
Woodmen Hall is an historic 2-story wooden Woodmen of the World building located 217 SW Akron Avenue, corner of SW 3rd Street in Stuart, Martin County, Florida. It was built between 1913-1914 by local master carpenter Sam Matthews. Like many fraternal buildings built in the late 19th century and early 20th century, the ground floor was designed for commercial use, while the upper floor was designed for use as a meeting room for Pineapple Camp No. 150, Woodmen of the World as well as community groups. Prominent members of Pineapple Camp include George W. Parks, who had a general store in what is now the Stuart Heritage Museum and in 2000 was added to the state's list of ''Great Floridians''. Assured Life Association, formerly Woodmen of the World and/or Assured Life Association, having officially changed its name to on January 1, 2015, is a fraternal benefit society based in Denver, Colorado whose beginnings can be traced to the same founder as Modern Woodmen of America and Woodmen of the World in 1890. Today, Assured Life Association is not affiliated with either organization. Woodsman (also, woodsmen, pl.) is a competitive, co-ed intercollegiate sport in the United States, Canada and elsewhere based on various skills traditionally part of forestry educational and technical training programs. In North America, the sport currently is organized in five regional divisions: northeastern, mid-Atlantic, southern, midwestern, and western. History Woodsmen or lumberjack competitions have their roots in competitions that took place in logging camps among loggers. As loggers were paid for piece work, the ability to perform a specific task more quickly, or with a degree of showmanship, was something to be admired. Today the tradition survives on college campuses across Canada and the United States, as well as on various competitive circuits worldwide, including ESPN's now-defunct Great Outdoor Games.
