Woodmen Hall is an historic Woodmen of the World building located on the corner of Center and Second streets in Saint Onge, Lawrence County, South Dakota. It was used as a meeting hall for the local Woodmen of the World lodge and other local organizations. It also housed a general store. Saint Onge (pronounced "saynt AHNJ'") is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lawrence County, South Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 170. History Saint Onge was laid out in 1881. The community was named for Henry St. Onge, a pioneer settler. A post office called Saint Onge has been in operation since 1881. Saint Onge has been assigned the ZIP code of 57779. Geography St. Onge is in northeastern Lawrence County, along South Dakota Highway 34, which leads northwest to Belle Fourche and southeast to Interstate 90 at Whitewood. Lawrence County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 25,768. Its county seat is Deadwood. Lawrence County is coextensive with the Spearfish, SD Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Rapid City-Spearfish, SD Combined Statistical Area. History Lawrence County was created January 11, 1875, and was organized in 1877. The county was named for "Colonel" John Lawrence, who came to the county as first treasurer in 1877. Lawrence had previously served in the Dakota Territorial Legislature, as a Sergeant at Arms for the United States House of Representatives, and a US Marshal for the Dakota territory. After retirement, he continued to act as county road supervisor and as an election judge. The title "Colonel" was honorary, bestowed by the governor of the Dakota Territory.
