Winger (band)
Winger is an American heavy metal band that has combined elements of glam metal and progressive metal. Formed in New York City, Winger gained popularity during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band's two platinum albums, '' Winger'', and ''In the Heart of the Young'', along with charting singles "Seventeen", "Headed for a Heartbreak" and " Miles Away", put them on the top of the charts by the early 1990s. In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for "Best New Heavy Metal Band". As the music scene changed in the early to mid-1990s due to the popularity of grunge, their success faded following their third release, ''Pull''. Winger disbanded in 1994. In 2001 they reunited and have since conducted several successful tours. In 2006, the band's 1993 touring line-up (minus Paul Taylor but including John Roth) reunited to record the band's first studio album in over 13 years, '' IV'', and toured in support of the album into 2008. In 2009, the band released the ...

Albums Produced By Kip Winger
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at  rpm. The album was the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption from the mid-1960s to the early 21st century, a period known as the album era. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats. The 8-track tape was the first tape format widely used alongside vinyl from 1965 until being phased out by 1983 and was gradually supplanted by the cassette tape during the 1970s and early 1980s; the popularity of the cassette reached its peak during the late 1980s, sharply declined during the 1990s and had largely disappeared dur ...

Blue Suede Shoes
"Blue Suede Shoes" is a rock and roll standard written and first recorded by American singer, songwriter and guitarist Carl Perkins in 1955. It is considered one of the first rockabilly records, incorporating elements of blues, country and pop music of the time. Perkins' original version of the song appeared on the '' Cashbox'' Best Selling Singles list for 16 weeks and spent two weeks at the number two position. Elvis Presley recorded "Blue Suede Shoes" in 1956 and it appears as the opening track of his eponymous debut album ''Elvis Presley''. Presley performed his version of the song three different times on national television. It was also recorded by Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, among many others. Background There are differing accounts about the origin of the song. In his second autobiography '' Cash: The Autobiography'', Johnny Cash recalled planting the seed for the song in the fall of 1955, while Perkins, Cash, Elvis Presley and other ''Louisiana Hayride'' acts t ...

Miles Away (Winger Song)
"Miles Away" is a power ballad by American rock band Winger, from their album '' In the Heart of the Young''. Released in late 1990 to pop radio after already reaching number one in most AOR markets, the song peaked at #12 on the Hot 100. It is also significant for being Winger's only ever hit single in the United Kingdom, reaching #56 on January 24, 1991. The single featured a B-side, "All I Ever Wanted", that was never released on any other Winger albums or compilations, though it did appear, in demo form, on the ''Demo Anthology''. Background Originally written by Paul Taylor during the very early '80s, he offered this song to Eric Martin (later of Mr. Big) who declined even though he knew it would be a hit. Paul Taylor stated he wrote “Miles Away” for his girlfriend Emi Canyn who was one of the Nasty Habits, the background singers for Mötley Crüe. Seventeen (Winger Song)
"Seventeen" is a single released by the American rock band Winger, from their album ''Winger''. Released in 1989, the song charted at No. 26 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The B-side for this single was the album cut "Hangin' On". The song was named the 87th best hard rock song of all time by VH1. Background According to Kip Winger, he took inspiration from the Beatles song, "I Saw Her Standing There", which contains the lyric, "Well she was just seventeen / If you know what I mean / And the way she looked / Was way beyond compare" and that he wasn't aware that it was illegal for an adult to have sexual relations with a seventeen-year-old. Winger said guitarist Reb Beach wrote the main riff when he was about 15, but was unsure how to use it. However, Winger had an idea, and wove it into the song. He said they were trying to rip off a Led Zeppelin song with "weird syncopation" on the verse, though he cannot remember which song it was anymore — probably "The Crunge" or "Wa ...
