Wim De Craene
Willem Marcel (Wim) De Craene (30 July 1950 – 14 September 1990) was a Flemish Belgian singer. His most famous songs were 'Rozane' (1975), 'Tim' (1975) and 'Breek uit jezelf' (1988). Career At the age of 18 he went to Amsterdam because his mentor Ramses Shaffy lived there at the time. 1975 was his most popular year as an artist. In 1990 De Craene committed suicide. He took an overdose of medication. Flemish
Flemish (''Vlaams'') is a Low Franconian dialect cluster of the Dutch language. It is sometimes referred to as Flemish Dutch (), Belgian Dutch ( ), or Southern Dutch (). Ramses Shaffy (29 August 1933 – 1 December 2009) was a Dutch-French singer and actor who became popular during the 1960s. His most famous songs include "Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, werk en bewonder", "We zullen doorgaan", "Pastorale", "Sammy" and "Laat me". He frequently collaborated with Dutch singer Liesbeth List. Biography Shaffy was born on 29 August 1933 in Paris, in the suburb Neuilly-sur-Seine. His father was an Egyptian diplomat Ramsès Shaffy Bey, and his mother was a Polish-Russian countess Alexandra de Wysocka. He grew up with his mother in Cannes. When she was infected with tuberculosis, Shaffy was sent to an aunt in Utrecht. Eventually, he ended up in a foster family in Leiden. He did not finish high school, but he was accepted at the Amsterdam school of theatre arts in 1952. In 1955, he made his debut with the ''Nederlandse Comedie''. De Kleine Man
"De Kleine Man" (translation: ''The Little Man'') is a 1929 Dutch-language protest song, written by Jacques van Tol and first recorded by Louis Davids. During Davids' lifetime it was considered his signature song. History Van Tol wrote the song for the revue ''Lach en Vergeet'' (1929) by Dutch comedian and singer Louis Davids. The song describes how odd and unfair it is that some people are so rich, while others are poor. It also criticizes funding for unemployed people and how politicians yell at each other and spent millions on military defense, while the average little man has to pay for all this. The original lyrics make reference to U.S. boxer Jack Dempsey who is criticized for earning millions by just having himself pound to pulp, not to mention his opponent.
