Willard Subdivision
The Willard Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of Ohio. The line runs from Willard west to Deshler along a former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) line. At its east end, at Daniels Road west of Willard, the line becomes the Willard Terminal Subdivision. Its west end is at the east end of the Garrett Subdivision, just east of Deshler and the Toledo Subdivision. The line is split at Fostoria by the Fostoria Subdivision, which includes the junction with the Columbus Subdivision, and at Galatea the line intersects the Toledo Branch Subdivision. This was once Amtrak's Three rivers line. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. Historically, the byte was the number of bits used to encode a single character of text in a computer and for this reason it is the smallest addressable unit of memory in many computer architectures. The Baltimore and Ohio and Chicago Railroad (B&O&C) was a subsidiary of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) that owned the line from Willard, Ohio to Chicago, Illinois. History In 1869 the B&O leased the Sandusky, Mansfield and Newark Railroad (SM&N), which stretched north from Newark on the Central Ohio Railroad to Sandusky on Lake Erie. Desiring to extend its system to Chicago, the B&O incorporated the Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Chicago Railway as separate companies in Ohio and Indiana on March 13 and March 14, 1872, respectively; a third company with the same name was incorporated in Illinois on February 27, 1873. Columbus Subdivision
The Columbus Subdivision is a freight railroad line extending from Columbus, Ohio, north to Fostoria, Ohio. The line is currently owned by CSX Transportation. This rail line is a mostly double-tracked route that sees a relatively high amount of traffic per day. Unit coal trains are very common on the Columbus Subdivision, but a large variety of commodities travel along the line. The line is controlled via a Centralized Traffic Control system that allows for a high throughput of trains. Direct Traffic Control is also used along the subdivision to separate trains, with a large number of DTC Blocks named after nearby municipalities. Fostoria, OH
Fostoria (, ) is a city located at the convergence of Hancock, Seneca, and Wood counties in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. It is approximately south of Toledo and north of Columbus. The city is known for its railroads, as approximately 100 trains pass through the city each day. The city is often visited by railfans, and a railroad viewing park, constructed in 2013 (dedicated 14 November 2013) hosts many railfans every day in a purpose-built viewing platform. Fostoria was also the home for over a dozen glass factories during the end of the 19th century. The glass factories were established in Fostoria because of the discovery of natural gas in the area. As the gas supply became depleted, many of the factories closed or moved—including the Fostoria Glass Company. Toledo Subdivision
The Toledo Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of Ohio. The line runs from Hamilton (north of Cincinnati) north to Perrysburg (near Toledo) along a former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line. The south end of the Toledo Subdivision is at the north end of the Cincinnati Terminal Subdivision, near the east end of the Indianapolis Subdivision. Its north end is at the south end of the Toledo Terminal Subdivision.
