Wietske Van Leeuwen
Wietske van Leeuwen (born 22 September 1965 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch ceramist, who lives and works in Monnickendam. Her father ran a timber trading company in Overschie, and her uncle is the photographer Piet van Leeuwen (born 1942). She studied handicrafts and textile art at the teacher training college in Delft from 1984 to 1989, and ceramic design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam from 1989 to 1993 under Jan van der Vaart, and Henk Trumpie. After graduation she settled in Amsterdam as an independent artist and started her own studio. Nut (fruit)
A nut is a fruit consisting of a hard or tough nutshell protecting a kernel which is usually edible. In general usage and in a culinary sense, a wide variety of dry seeds are called nuts, but in a botanical context "nut" implies that the shell does not open to release the seed (indehiscent). Chris Lanooij
Johannes Christiaan "Chris" Lanooy (16 March 1881 – 24 January 1948) was a Dutch potter and designer, who worked as ceramist, painter, draftsman and sculptor, and he produced stained-glass art. Life and work Lanooy was born in Sint-Annaland i 1881 as son of Cornelis Lanooij and Janna van 't Hof. Lanooy studied at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague and was a student of the Roermond architect and artist Pierre Cuypers and Gouda painter and art teacher Jan Lugthart. As a ceramist, he was an autodidact. He worked at ceramic factories in The Hague, Gouda en Purmerend, and at the Royal Leerdam Crystal glass factory in Leerdam. His work has been exhibited regularly at home and abroad. The Princessehof Ceramics Museum in Leeuwarden has more than a hundred works of Lanooy in the collection. The Kunsthal ( en, Art Hall) is an art museum in Rotterdam. It opened in 1992. Overview The museum is situated in the Museumpark of Rotterdam next to the Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam, and in the vicinity of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Entrance to the Kunsthal is from the Westzeedijk. The building was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas together with project architect Fuminori Hoshino of the architectural firm OMA ( Office for Metropolitan Architecture). Wim van Krimpen was its first director. The Kunsthal has no permanent collection, but organises a wide range of temporary exhibits. The large space available allows various exhibits in parallel. Gallery Terra Delft is an art gallery in Delft specialized in ceramics and ceramic art from contemporary national and international ceramists. It was founded in 1986. History Opening and first years The gallery was founded by artist Simone Haak (1952) and Joke Doedens (1961) in 1986 to create new opportunity for ceramists on the Dutch market. Princessehof Ceramics Museum
The Princessehof Ceramics Museum (in Dutch: Keramiekmuseum Princessehof) is a museum of ceramics in the city of Leeuwarden in the Netherlands. The museum's name comes from one of two buildings in which it is housed: a small palace ( means ‘royal court’) built in 1693 and later occupied by Marie Louise, dowager Princess of Orange. The other annexed building is the Papinga stins, a former stronghold from the 15th century. The museum buildings are of interest, and so are its collection of tiles, pottery, and ceramic sculpture.
