Whit Fraser
Whit Grant Fraser (born November 26, 1942) is a Canadian journalist, broadcaster, and author who is the current viceregal consort of Canada. Background Born in Merigomish, Nova Scotia, and educated in Stellarton, Fraser began his career in journalism as a reporter for CKEC-FM in New Glasgow. He joined CBC News in 1967 as a reporter in Frobisher Bay and later in Yellowknife. His coverage of the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline Inquiry in the late 1970s expanded his national prominence, following which he worked for a number of years as a national reporter based in Ottawa and Edmonton. In 1989 he was one of the final contenders to replace Peter Downie as host of the network's noon-hour newscast ''Midday'', but was not selected; instead, he became host of ''This Country'', a six-hour nightly program on the CBC's new all-news channel CBC Newsworld which covered regional news from across the country. Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office, and is held only for the duration of that office. Generally people addressed as ''Excellency'' are heads of state, heads of government, governors, ambassadors, Roman Catholic bishops and high-ranking ecclesiastics and others holding equivalent rank (e.g., heads of international organizations). Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, (Inuktitut syllabics: , meaning "Inuit are united in Canada") previously known as the Inuit Tapirisat of Canada (Eskimo Brotherhood of Canada), is a nonprofit organization in Canada that represents over 65,000 Inuit across Inuit Nunangat and the rest of Canada. Their mission is to "serve as a national voice protecting and advancing the rights and interests of Inuit in Canada." Founded in 1971 by Inuit leaders, the organization has gone to accomplish various things such as, assisting in the negotiation of land claims, representing the voice of Inuit and Inuit culture, their culture by using television, taking legal action against those who have violated their rights, and creating a program to improve education for Inuit children. The paper is published every Friday by Nortext Publishing Corporation of Iqaluit and Ottawa, and bears a retail price of C$1. Co-op stores in Nunavut and Nunavik distribute it for free. The Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) ( iu, ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᑕᑯᓐᓇᕋᑦᓴᓕᕆᔨᑦ) is a television production company based in Nunavut with programming targeted at the Inuit population of Nunavut.
