David Whippey
David Whippey (or Whippy) was an American sailor from Nantucket who became a "beachcomber", a white resident of the Fijian islands who served as liaison between the local and foreign communities, and eventually was the United States vice-consul. Whippey left Nantucket on the whaling ship ''Hero'' in 1816, but jumped ship in Peru. In 1824 he arrived in the Fijian Islands on the brig , Peter Dillon, master, who then left Whippey behind to collect tortoise shell, but never returned. Whippey settled in Fiji, married a local woman, and had families/children with three other women in three regions of the Fijian Islands. He also mediated between the Fijians and white sailors. Joshua Whippy (born October 30, 1990) is a rugby union player who plays for the Utah Warriors of Major League Rugby (MLR) and the United States men's national team. Whippy previously played for the USA Selects. Early life Josh Whippy was born on October 30, 1990 and grew up in Fiji. Whippy moved to New Zealand to attend Rangitoto College and Church College, where he played both basketball and rugby. In 2010 he played for Utah's United Rugby Club, scoring a try in United's under-19 national championship victory. Whippy then attended Brigham Young University (BYU), where he began playing for the school's rugby team. After an injury ended his freshman season of rugby early, Whippy spent two years as a Mormon missionary. Upon returning to BYU for his sophomore year, Whippy joined the university's football team. Marques Reid Whippy (born February 5, 1986) is a Fijian former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Brigham Young University in Hawaii before playing professionally in Spain, Australia, Chile and New Zealand. He has been a regular member of the Fijian national team. Rednex is a Swedish musical group whose style is a mix of American country music and modern Eurodance, with their appearance and stage names taking inspiration from the American redneck stereotypes. Lake Massawippi is a freshwater lake in Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. The Tomifobia River is the source of the lake at its southern tip, near the village of Ayer's Cliff, Quebec. In early records, the lake was also called "Lake Tomifobi". The current of the lake flows north, funneling into the Massawippi River at the village of North Hatley, Quebec on Massawippi's northern shore.
