Josh Whippy
Joshua Whippy (born October 30, 1990) is a rugby union player who plays for the Utah Warriors of Major League Rugby (MLR) and the United States men's national team. Whippy previously played for the USA Selects. Early life Josh Whippy was born on October 30, 1990 and grew up in Fiji. Whippy moved to New Zealand to attend Rangitoto College and Church College, where he played both basketball and rugby. In 2010 he played for Utah's United Rugby Club, scoring a try in United's under-19 national championship victory. Whippy then attended Brigham Young University (BYU), where he began playing for the school's rugby team. After an injury ended his freshman season of rugby early, Whippy spent two years as a Mormon missionary. Upon returning to BYU for his sophomore year, Whippy joined the university's football team. Church College Of New Zealand
Church College of New Zealand (CCNZ) was a private secondary school in Temple View, Hamilton, New Zealand, that was operated by the Church Educational System of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It was closed at the end of the 2009 school year. History Construction of CCNZ began in 1952. In 1955, the LDS Church announced that it would construct a temple in Hamilton. LDS Church president David O. McKay initially went to New Zealand to downsize the building programme. After visiting the project, McKay was so impressed with what he saw and felt he decided to add two more buildings to the school's construction. These buildings were later named the David O. McKay Auditorium and the Matthew Cowley Administration Building. BYU Men's Rugby
The Brigham Young University Men's Rugby Team participates in the Rocky Mountain division of Division 1-A Rugby. They won the D1-A National Championship in 2009 and 2012. From 2013 to 2016 they participated in the Varsity Cup Championship, where they won three championships (2013, 2014, and 2015), defeating rival powerhouse Cal each time. BYU Rugby normally hosts its home matches at South Field on BYU campus in Provo, Utah. The stadium now features a grandstand with seating capacity up to 4,200 spectators, with additional standing room for larger crowds. The 2017 end-of-year rugby union internationals, also known as the November internationals, or autumn internationals in the Northern Hemisphere, were international rugby union matches in 2017. Rugby Championship winners New Zealand travelled to France for two matches (one an uncapped XV match), Scotland and Wales. Argentina faced England, Ireland and Italy - with the latter two countries also hosting South Africa. The Springboks also faced their June test series opposition, France, whom they had beaten 3–0, before ending their tour in Wales, after the international window. Uruguay A National Rugby Union Team
The Uruguay A national rugby union team are the second national rugby union team behind the Uruguay national side. History Uruguay A have played Glasgow Caledonians and Edinburgh Reivers in a Challenge tournament in Ontario, Canada in August 1999. In November 2014, the URU decided to baptize the team as Charruas XV, days before travelling to Brazil to face locals on a friendly match. Uruguay 'A' won the match 25-6. As international competition, in 2015 it played the UruCup and in 2016 the World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge. 2017 World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge
The 2017 World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge was the second tournament of the Americas Pacific Challenge, which is a development competition for the Americas and Pacific island nations. The competition was hosted by Uruguay with all games played at the 14,000 capacity stadium Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo. Format With six teams in the tournament and a limitation of three matches per team, a "split pool" format was used. The 2018 Major League Rugby season was the inaugural season of Major League Rugby, an annual rugby union competition sanctioned by USA Rugby.
