Uruguay A National Rugby Union Team
The Uruguay A national rugby union team are the second national rugby union team behind the Uruguay national side. History Uruguay A have played Glasgow Caledonians and Edinburgh Reivers in a Challenge tournament in Ontario, Canada in August 1999. In November 2014, the URU decided to baptize the team as Charruas XV, days before travelling to Brazil to face locals on a friendly match. Uruguay 'A' won the match 25-6. As international competition, in 2015 it played the UruCup and in 2016 the World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge. Like ''provincial team'', after 2012, since 2015 the team also plays regularly on Campeonato Argentino. In 2015 season it finished in the 2nd place of Zona Ascenso B. Franco Lamanna
Franco Lamanna (born 5 October 1991 in Montevideo) is an Uruguayan rugby union player. He currently plays as a flanker (rugby union), flanker and Lock (rugby union), lock for Rugby Mogliano, Mogliano in Top12. Lamanna started playing rugby in his local team Carrasco Polo Club in Uruguay. In mid 2014, he went to Europe to play for CUS Perugia Rugby in the Italy, Italian Serie A (rugby union), Serie A. In October 2014, during the game against the National Academy Ivan Francescato, he ruptured his left anterior cruciate ligament and had to be operated urgently. He recovered successfully from the injury and returned to his country to play again for Carrasco Polo Club. Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. Edinburgh Rugby (formerly Edinburgh Reivers, Edinburgh Gunners) is one of the two professional rugby union teams from Scotland. UruCup
The UruCup is a rugby union competition that was first held in 2015 (from 8–14 March) at the Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo with Charrúas XV, Argentina Jaguars, South American XV, Chile, Uruguay U20 and Argentina U20 taking part. Argentina Jaguars are the actual champions. It is a regional tournament supported by the World Rugby which tries to bring the best players in the region. One big objective is that every year the competition upgrades and can invite teams from other continents. Both Argentina U20 and Uruguay U20 played the tournament as a preparation for the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship and the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy respectively. 2016 World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge
The 2016 World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge was the inaugural rugby union tournament created by World Rugby for national 'A' teams to develop home grown talent for their national test sides. The Americas Pacific Challenge provides the Pacific nations a chance of further competition outside their own region, as the Pacific Challenge is reduced to just the Pacific nations when Rugby World Cup qualifiers are played. For national 'A' teams from the Americas, this new tournament replaced the pre-2015 format of the Americas Rugby Championship, which is now an annual championship elevated to test status. The tournament was hosted by Uruguay, with all matches played at the 14,000 capacity stadium Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo. The 2012 Campeonato Argentino de Rugby was the 66th version of the annual rugby competition held in Argentina in 2012. It was played between 3 March and 28 April of that year. The winner was Cordobesa, who defeated Rosario in the final game. The Campeonato Argentino de Mayores (also known as Campeonato Argentino) was an annual rugby union competition held in Argentina for provincial teams. The Campeonato Argentino was strictly amateur, and only players from local clubs were allowed to play. It was organised by the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR), with the last season held in 2017. The competing teams represented the unions of the rugby provinces that make up the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR). Some of these unions represented more than one province, for example the "Noreste" (North east) side represented the provinces of Chaco and Corrientes.
