Westburn Park
Westburn Park is a public park in Aberdeen, Scotland. It is owned by Aberdeen City Council and is one of the largest parks in the city, with an area of 10 hectares. It does not have flowerbeds or gardens and is mainly grass with some trees. There are two large ponds and a stream, the Gilcomston Burn, flows through the south of the park. There is a cycle track area for children. This comprises miniature roads with road signs to teach children about how roads work. The children's playground includes metal climbing frames. There is a skatepark that was originally built in the 1970s and was refurbished in 2018 following an award of £105,000 to the Friends of Victoria and Westburn Park from Aberdeen City Council. A skatepark, or skate park, is a purpose-built recreational environment made for skateboarding, BMX, scootering, wheelchairs, and aggressive inline skating. British Isles Bowls Championships
The British Isles Bowls Championships is a tournament held between the champions of their respective nations, England Scotland, Wales, combined Ireland and more recently Guernsey and Jersey. It was first held in 1960 although the triples event did not start until 1977. The women's events started in June 1972, with the triples starting in 1982. The first women's singles winner was Lilian Nicholas of Wales. The first men's singles winner was Kenneth Coulson of England and the legendary David Bryant (bowls), David Bryant MBE holds the record for the most singles titles with four. The tournament is held the year after each of the National champions have been crowned. The 2020 edition was initially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but because there were no National Championships held during 2020 (also due to the pandemic) the 2020 edition was rescheduled for 2021. Green Spaces And Walkways In Aberdeen
The Scottish city of Aberdeen has a number of green spaces and walkways. The parks, gardens and floral displays which include 2 million roses, 11 million daffodils and 3 million crocuses have led the city to win the Royal Horticultural Society's Britain in Bloom Best City award many times, including a period of nine years straight. It won the 2006 Scotland in Bloom Best City award along with the International Cities in Bloom award. The suburb of Dyce also won the Small Towns award.
