West Valley Athletic League
The West Valley Athletic League was a high school athletic league under the auspices of the CIF Central Coast Section. The league generally covered the schools of the Campbell Union High School District and Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District. The league was formed in the mid-1960s (the league had formed by 1965) with the advent of new schools. Older schools like Campbell and Los Gatos had previously played in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League. As schools closed the league reformatted and many of the remaining schools joined what became the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League. CIF Central Coast Section
The Central Coast Section (CCS) is the governing body of public and private high school athletics in the portion of California encompassing San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, California, Santa Clara County, Monterey County, San Benito County, Santa Cruz County, California, Santa Cruz County and a few private schools in San Francisco. It is one of ten sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Campbell Union High School District
Campbell Union High School District (abbreviated as CUHSD) is a school district based in Santa Clara County, California, serving the Silicon Valley communities of San Jose, Campbell, Saratoga, Santa Clara, Los Gatos and Monte Sereno. It operates six high school campuses, Branham, Del Mar, Leigh, Prospect, Westmont, and Boynton; as well as Campbell Adult and Community Education. It serves more than 8600 students, and employs 800 teachers and staff. Since 1986, schools in the district have been recognized as distinguished schools 7 times, the last being in 2007. Santa Clara Valley Athletic League
Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL) is a high school athletic conference and part of the CIF Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. Its 14+ member schools are in the northern part of the Santa Clara Valley. Each sport is divided into two leagues based on strength. The De Anza League is for stronger teams and El Camino League is for weaker teams. Blossom Valley Athletic League (BVAL) is a high school athletic conference in Santa Clara County, California. It is the county's largest high school sports league and is part of the CIF Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. Structure and history Blossom Valley Athletic League comprises 26 high schools in Santa Clara County. The schools are separated into three divisions based on the strength of each specific sports program. The three divisions are Mt. Hamilton, Santa Teresa, and West Valley. Boynton High School
Boynton High School is a secondary school located in San Jose, California and is a continuation school for the Campbell Union High School District. Between 1990 and 2002 when Boynton High School continuation students attended what was then Blackford High School. Blackford had been a traditional high school before 1991 when it was closed. After a minor disagreement amongst board members of the Campbell Union High School District, they agreed to rename the continuation high school to Boynton High School, and established a new building on the same lot as Blackford. The resources of the Blackford High School campus were being shared, and needed to be renovated in order to lease the campus to another school (the former Blackford High School campus is now occupied by neighboring Harker Middle School.). Branham High School
Branham High School is a secondary school in San Jose, California, located in the Cambrian neighborhood within the West San Jose region. It opened on September 13, 1967, under the Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD) and closed in 1991. The District leased the campus to Valley Christian Schools in 1991. The school was reopened by CUHSD in 1999 due to increased enrollment within the district. The school is named after Isaac Branham, a Californian pioneer who became a successful farmer and lumber mill owner. The school colors are navy blue, Columbia blue, and white and the official mascot is the Bruin. As of March 2022, the school also has a boba drink dedicated to them by the locally owned business Boba Pub called "Blu's Bev". This was made possible through a partnership between the business and Branham's associated student body (ASB). Camden High School (San Jose, California)
Camden High School was an American high school located in the U.S. state of California. It was the second school built in 1955, in the Campbell Union High School District and the first of several to close in 1980. Originally located at the corner of Camden Avenue and Union Avenue in the Cambrian Park neighborhood of San Jose, much of its campus has now been sold and converted into a shopping center. Behind the center, some of the original buildings and the swimming pool remain as the Camden Community Center. The housing development of Camden Park was built on the eastern half of the original athletic fields. Camden High School closed in 1980 in the wake of Proposition 13. Campbell High School (California)
Campbell High School was the first high school to open in the Campbell Union High School District. The school was established on September 14, 1900, in Campbell, California. It is also sometimes called Campbell Union High School, and the abbreviation can be found both as CHS or CUHS. After 80 years, the school was closed in June 1980 due to declining enrollment at the school and within the district. The campus was purchased by the city of Campbell on August 1, 1985, and is now used as a community center. History Campbell Union High School opened its doors as part of the district in 1900, with a registration of 35 students, consisting of 23 girls and 12 boys. Del Mar High School (DMHS) is a four-year, public secondary school established in 1959 in San Jose, California.
