West Preston Lakeside Football Club
West Preston Lakeside Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Reservoir, Victoria, currently competing in the Northern Football League. History The West Preston F.C. was formed in 1948 in the CYMS competition. It remained there until 1963, when it joined the very strong church based YCW National Football Association. The club had a reasonable amount of success and it was decided that it should field junior sides as well and from those early days more than 10 players from those sides went on to join the ranks of the then VFL. The club had continued to grow which led the club to apply for membership in the Diamond Valley Football League in 1981. The DVFL was one of, if not the strongest of Melbourne's suburban competitions and thus the successful application was a great moment for the club. The league regulates competitions of both sports, Australian rules football and netball in the region. The Northern League is a men's football league in north east England. Having been founded in 1889, it is the second-oldest football league in the world still in existence after the English Football League. It contains two divisions; Division One and Division Two. Greg Fyffe
Greg Fyffe (born 3 April 1963) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Fyffe was originally from amateur club West Brunswick. His only appearance for Collingwood came during the 1983 VFL season, in their round five loss to Hawthorn at Victoria Park, where he kicked two goals and three behinds, having a total of 14 disposals. Despite having tidy match stats against the eventual Premiers, Fyffe was not selected again for Collingwood which did surprise many. Heath Shephard
Heath Shephard (born 7 September 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and the Brisbane Bears in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Shephard was drafted by Collingwood under the "Father-Son" rule, as his Graeme had played at the club in the early 1970s. Although he grew up in Tasmania, he was playing at Victorian club Robinvale when Collingwood secured his services. He had a memorable VFL debut, against the Brisbane Bears at Victoria Park in the third round of the 1989 season. His 18 disposals included five goals and five behinds. He kicked another two goals the following week but his form then dropped off and he finished the season with nine games to his name. Paul Tilley
Paul Lawrence Tilley (born 3 July 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Tilley was originally from West Preston and played Under-19s football for Fitzroy. He broke into the seniors for the first time in 1985 when he made four appearances. The following season he played in the first seven rounds and finished the year with nine games. At St Kilda in 1987, he had to wait until round 21 to play a senior game, coming into the side to replace ruckman Warwick Green. Tilley played with Wangaratta in the Ovens & Murray Football League in 1988, kicking 10 goals for the season, with Wangaratta finishing 4th. He returned to his original club West Preston in 1989 and in 1992 won the George LeBrocq Medal, given to the best and fairest player in the Diamond Valley Football League second division. History Established in 1876, Heidelberg Football Club is one of the oldest Australian rules football clubs in the country.
