West Aceh Regency
West Aceh Regency ( id, Kabupaten Aceh Barat) is a Regencies of Indonesia, regency in the Aceh special region of Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency currently covers an area of 2,927.95 square kilometres and had a population of 173,558 at the 2010 Census and 198,736 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate as at mid 2021 was 200,579. The town of Meulaboh remains the seat of the regency government (notwithstanding unsubstantiated reports that on 8 July 2013 it was separated out as an independent city). The regency is a palm oil-producing area. Some of the people of the regency are Minangkabau people, Minangkabau-descended Aneuk Jamee. The regency was among the hardest-hit areas during the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the mesocarp (reddish pulp) of the fruit of the oil palms. The oil is used in food manufacturing, in beauty products, and as biofuel. Nagan Raya Regency
Nagan Raya Regency ( id, Kabupaten Nagan Raya) is a regency in the Aceh special region of Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The seat of the regency government is at Suka Makmue. The regency covers an area of 3,544.90 square kilometres and had a population of 139,663 people according to the 2010 Census and 168,392 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate as at mid 2021 was 170,591. Central Aceh Regency
Central Aceh Regency ( id, Kabupaten Aceh Tengah) is a regency in Aceh Special Region (''Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam'') of Indonesia. It is located on Sumatra island. Formerly this regency covered a much larger area; in 1969, the Southeast Aceh Regency was separated from the Central Aceh Regency, and in 2003 the Bener Meriah Regency was separated from the remaining Central Aceh Regency. The remaining regency covers an area of 4,454.04 square kilometres and had a population of 175,527 according to the 2010 census, which rose to 215,576 at the 2020 Census. Pidie Regency (also known as: Pidie, Pědir; "king of"; id, Kabupaten Pidie) is a regency of Aceh Special region, in Indonesia. Aceh Jaya Regency ( id, Kabupaten Aceh Jaya) is a regency of Aceh Special Region, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency covers an area of 3,814 square kilometres and had a population of 76,782 people at the 2010 census Biro Pusat Statistik, Jakarta, 2011. and 93,159 at the 2020 Census, of whom 47,264 were male and 45,895 female. 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake
An earthquake and a tsunami, known as the Boxing Day Tsunami and, by the scientific community, the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake, occurred at 07:58:53 local time (UTC+7) on 26 December 2004, with an epicentre off the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. It was an undersea megathrust earthquake that registered a magnitude of 9.1–9.3 , reaching a Mercalli intensity up to IX in certain areas. The earthquake was caused by a rupture along the fault between the Burma Plate and the Indian Plate. Aneuk Jamee
The Aneuk Jamee or Ughang Jamu people are a group of people spread along the west and south coast of Aceh, starting from Singkil, South Aceh Regency, Southwest Aceh Regency and Simeulue Regency. The Aneuk Jamee people are originally Minangkabau people who have migrated to Aceh in the 19th century, and intermarried with the Acehnese people, Kluet people, Singkil people and Devayan people. In terms of language, the Anuek Jamee language is considered as a dialect of the Minangkabau language that has a mixture of Aceh's native languages.
