Weekly Shōnen Sunday
is a weekly ''shōnen'' manga magazine published in Japan by Shogakukan since March 1959. Contrary to its title, ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' issues are released on Wednesdays. ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' has sold over 1.8billion copies since 1986, making it the fourth best selling manga magazine, only behind ''Weekly Shōnen Jump'', ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'' and ''Weekly Young Jump''. History ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' was first published on March 17, 1959, as a response to its rival ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine''. The debut issue featured Shigeo Nagashima, the star player of the Yomiuri Giants on the cover, and a congratulatory article by Isoko Hatano, a noted child psychologist. Despite its name, ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' was originally published on Tuesdays of each week, switching to Wednesdays in 2011. Urusei Yatsura
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' from September 1978 to February 1987. Its 366 individual chapters were published in 34 ''tankōbon'' volumes. It tells the story of Ataru Moroboshi, and the alien Lum, who believes she is Ataru's wife after he accidentally proposes to her. The series makes heavy use of Japanese mythology, culture and puns. It was adapted into an anime television series produced by Kitty Films and broadcast on Fuji Television affiliates from October 1981, to March 1986, with 194 half-hour episodes. Twelve OVAs and six theatrical films followed, and the series was released on various home video formats. The manga series was republished in different formats in Japan. ''Major'' (stylized as ''MAJOR'') is a Japanese sports manga series written and illustrated by Takuya Mitsuda. It was serialized in Shogakukan's ''shōnen'' manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' from August 1994 to July 2010, with its chapters collected in 78 ''tankōbon'' volumes. It was followed by a sequel titled ''Major 2nd'', which started in ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' in March 2015. Ad Astra Per Aspera (manga)
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kenjiro Hata. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' since September 2015. Hata published the series on a monthly basis, with a "first season" of 7 chapters published until May 2016. Hata stated that he will release a "second season", but it has not been decided when it will be published. Its chapters have been collected in one ''tankōbon'' volume as of February 2016. ''Case Closed'', also known as , is a Japanese detective manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's ''shōnen'' manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' since January 1994, with its chapters collected in 102 ''tankōbon'' volumes as of September 2022. Due to legal problems with the name ''Detective Conan'', the English language releases from Funimation and Viz were renamed to ''Case Closed''. Magic Kaito
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. It began in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' in June 1987. The story tells of a phantom thief named Kaito Kid. Aoyama put the manga on hiatus after the first two ''tankōbon'' volumes were published in 1988, and only occasionally draws new chapters; the third volume was published in 1994, the fourth in 2007, and the fifth in 2017. Gosho Aoyama
is a Japanese manga artist best known for his manga series ''Detective Conan'' (1994–present), also known as ''Case Closed'' in some English-speaking countries. As of 2017, his various manga series had a combined 250 million copies in print worldwide. Educational background Aoyama was talented in drawing even at an early age. In elementary school, his painting of "Yukiai War" won a competition and was displayed at the Tottori Daimaru Department Store. He has an older brother who is a scientist and helps him out with the "gimmicks" in ''Detective Conan''. He has another brother who is a doctor.
