Weed
A weed is a plant considered undesirable in a particular situation, "a plant in the wrong place", or a plant growing where it is not wanted.Harlan, J. R., & deWet, J. M. (1965). Some thoughts about weeds. ''Economic botany'', ''19''(1), 16-24. This introduces the concept of humans and their goals in a particular setting.Holzner, W., & Numata, M. (Eds.). (2013). ''Biology and ecology of weeds'' (Vol. 2). Springer Science & Business Media. The concept of weeds is particularly significant in agriculture, where the aim is growing crops or pastures of a single species, or a mixture of a few desired species. In such environments, other plant species are considered undesirable and therefore a weed. Besides, some weeds have undesirable characteristics making them a plant pest in most human settings.Harlan, J. R., & deWet, J. M. (1965). Some thoughts about weeds. Background Williams’ debut, 1987's ''Happy Come Home'', received some good critical reviews but made zero commercial impact, selling only fourteen thousand copies. After her split with Geffen, Victoria would record “Don't Let It Bring You Down” for the Neil Young tribute album '' The Bridge''. She would record her second album in four days early in 1990, focusing on the more joyful of the dozens of songs she had written over the three years since the debut album. Weeds (album)
''Weeds'' was the second album by Brewer & Shipley and was released in 1969. The album was recorded at Golden State Recorders in San Francisco and produced by Nick Gravenites using the pseudonym "Nicky Gravy". Gravenites assembled a group of highly respected musicians for the album recording sessions, including guitarist Mike Bloomfield, bassist John Kahn, pedal steel guitarist Red Rhodes, violinist Richard Greene and keyboardists Mark Naftalin and Nicky Hopkins. The final track, "Witchi-Tai-To," in particular, received a lot of FM radio play, contributing to the album's modest success. The duo gained a devoted underground following as a result of this exposure, which also prepared them for the commercial success of their upcoming album release. ''Weeds'' has been reissued on CD twice, both times coupled with Brewer & Shipley's third album '' Tarkio'', firstly by Collector's Choice records in 2004 and then by Acadia Records in 2008. The Weeds consisted of Cole, Eddie Bowen (guitar), Ron Buzzell (guitar), Bob Atkins (bass guitar), and Tim Rockson ( drums). After releasing a single, "It's Your Time". on the local Teenbeat Club label, the group headed to San Francisco, where they had been promised a gig at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium. It was around this time that the band members, who were all of draftable age, decided to relocate to Canada. As it turned out, however, they only had enough gas money to make it to Portland, Oregon, where they began to perform on the local club circuit, gaining a cult following. The Weeds eventually ...
