Wayne Collins (politician)
Wayne Alphonsus Collins (born 15 January 1949) is a Canadian former radio journalist and politician. Originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, he worked primarily in Prince Edward Island. Journalism Collins worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, hosting ''Island Morning'' on CBCT-FM in Charlottetown from 1983 until April 2003. Political office Following his retirement, Collins joined the Prince Edward Island Progressive Conservative Party and was nominated as the party's candidate for the electoral district of Winsloe-West Royalty in the summer of 2003. The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island (french: Assemblée législative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is the sole chamber of the General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. The Legislative Assembly meets at Province House, which is located at the intersection of Richmond and Great George Streets in Charlottetown. Stanley Forrest (Bush) Dumville (born January 6, 1945) is a Canadian politician, who represented the electoral district of West Royalty-Springvale in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 2007 to 2019. First elected in the 2007 Prince Edward Island general election as a member of the Prince Edward Island Liberal Party, he left the party to sit as an independent on January 31, 2018. The Progressive Conservative Party of Prince Edward Island is one of three major political parties on Prince Edward Island. The party and its rival, the Liberals, have alternated in power since responsible government was granted in 1851. CBCT-FM is a Canadian radio station. It is the CBC Radio One affiliate for all of Prince Edward Island, with studios in Charlottetown, broadcasting at 96.1 MHz. Charlottetown
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Queen Charlotte, Charlottetown was an unincorporated town until it was incorporated as a city in 1855. It was the site of the famous Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the first gathering of Canadian and Maritime statesmen to discuss the proposed Maritime Union. This conference led, instead, to the union of British North American colonies in 1867, which was the beginning of the Canadian confederation. PEI, however, did not join Confederation until 1873.
