Warda Al-Jazairia ( ar, وردة الجزائرية; born Warda Mohammed Ftouki (); 22 July 1939 – 17 May 2012) was an Algerian singer. She was well known for her Egyptian Arabic songs and music. Warda Al Turk
Warda Nicolas Yusuf Al-Turk (1797 – 1873) was a 19th-century Lebanese poet who was born and raised in the Chouf District located in Mount Lebanon, during the reign of the Ottoman Empire. She was considered as a "revivalist" in her time, along with other remarkable women from the region, because she was able to revive old classical poetry. Through the influence of her poet father Nicolas Al-Turk who was a court poet for the historic Amir Bashir al-Shihabi II, Warda al-Turk developed a passion for writing and thus devoted most of her work to empowering women. Her work in colloquial and classical Arabic was one of the very scarce, as a woman poet of her time, to survive to this day. Warda Al-Yaziji
Warda al-Yaziji (1838–1924) was a Lebanese Christian poet who rose to prominence in the early twentieth century, and is considered a pioneer for opening up the field of writing to women. Personal life Born in Lebanon in 1924, Warda was raised in an upper-class home and attended a private Christian school in the area. She was the daughter of poet and scholar Nasif al-Yaziji, and her brother was the notable scholar Ibrahim al-Yaziji, because of this she received a high level of education and was taught both French and Arabic. It is said that at the age of 13 she began to write poetry. As she got older, Warda began teaching at a school while continuing to write and married her husband Francis Shamun in 1866. They had five children together. After the death of her husband in 1899 she moved to Alexandria, Egypt. Bashar Matti Warda ( ar, بشار متي وردة; born 15 June 1969 in Baghdad, Iraq) is a Chaldean Catholic cleric and the current Archbishop of Erbil (in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq). Giwargis Warda ( syc, ܓܝܘܪܓܝܣ ܘܪܕܐ, ''Giwargis'' being the equivalent of "George" and ''warda'' meaning "rose") was a Syriac poet of the Church of the East who probably lived in the 13th century. William Warda ( syr, ܘܠܝܡ ܘܪܕܐ) is an Iraqi–Assyrian journalist and human rights campaigner. He is a former leading member of Iraq's Assyrian Democratic Movement.
