Walkerton Capitals
The Walkerton Capitals were a senior hockey team based out of Walkerton, Ontario, Canada. The Capitals played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League for four seasons. 2008-09 Walkerton began their inaugural season in the league on the road with a 6-3 loss to the Shelburne Muskies. The Capitals lost their next two games to fall to 0-3-0 before earning their first victory, a 4-2 win over the Nottawasaga River Rats. Walkerton would finish the season with a 4-14-2 record, earning 10 points, and ninth place in the WOAA North Division, failing to qualify for the "AA" playoffs. The Capitals opened the "B" playoffs against the Shallow Lake Crushers, and it was the Crushers who struck first, winning the series opener 6-3. Walkerton, Ontario
Walkerton is a Town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located within and governed by the municipality of Brockton, Ontario, Brockton. It is the site of Brockton's municipal offices and the county seat of Bruce County, Ontario, Bruce County. It is located on the Saugeen River, at the junction of Highway 9 (Ontario), King's Highway 9 and formerly Highway 4 (Ontario), King's Highway 4 and is 75 km southwest of Owen Sound, Ontario, Owen Sound. Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League
The WOAA Senior AA Hockey League is a Canadian senior ice hockey league governed by the Western Ontario Athletic Association. The league operates in Southwestern Ontario. History Format The league uses Hockey Canada playing rules but is not operated under the jurisdictions of the Ontario Hockey Association or Hockey Canada. The league is based in the Georgian Triangle and Southwestern Ontario. The league has been in existence since 1943, one year after the WOAA itself was established, and has entertained large crowds with local former Junior Hockey players and the odd former professional player. The league is rather large and features teams of both Senior "AA" and Senior "A" calibre. It is generally accepted that none of these teams could financially compete with the Senior "AAA" teams that compete for the Allan Cup. Shelburne Muskies
The Shelburne Muskies are a men's senior hockey team based out of Shelburne, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. Championships In 1982, the Muskies won their eighth COHL title since 1935. Their seventh came in 1972. The Shelburne Muskies have won one championship, in 1997–98 when they were crowned WOAA Sr. "A" champions. Head coach was Barry Trood and assistant coach was Mark Taylor, trainers Sue Snider and Charmaine Archbold. The Muskies faced off against the Arthur Tigers in the first round, defeating them 4 games to 2. In the semifinals the first-place Muskies in the North played another tough series against the second-place Wiarton Redmen with the Muskies once again coming out on top, winning that series in six games including game 6 in Wiarton. Nottawasaga River Rats
The Nottawasaga River Rats were a senior hockey team based out of CFB Borden. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. Championships Nottawasaga has won one WOAA Championship, when they were known as Georgian Bay, when they were Senior "A" champions in 2004. 2006-07 River Rats Season This season would prove to be disastrous for the River Rats, as they finished the regular season with a 0-24-0 record, last place in the 18 team WOAA. Georgian Bay did have a victory in mid-December, a 4-3 win over the Durham Thundercats, however they were stripped of the win due to playing with illegal players. Shallow Lake Crushers
The Shallow Lake Crushers are a senior hockey team based out of Shallow Lake, Ontario, Canada. Their inaugural season started in October 2007. History 2007-08 Crushers Season The Crushers would play their first ever game at home, losing to the Ripley Wolves by a score of 11-1. Shallow Lake would continue to struggle, as they would lose their first twelve games, being outscored 103-30 in the process, before defeating the Georgian Bay River Rats by a score of 6-1 in their thirteenth game and earn their first ever victory. Shallow Lake would play better hockey as the season went on, highlighted by a 6-4 win on the road over the Ripley Wolves. Goderich Pirates
The Goderich Pirates are a senior hockey team based out of Goderich, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. Championships Goderich has won two WOAA Championship, back in the 1953-54 season and the 1997-98 season. 2006-07 Pirates Season Goderich, coming off an 8-17-0 season in 2005-06, improved a little bit, going 9-13-2, good for seventh in the WOAA South Division. The Pirates were swept by the Ripley Wolves in the Sr. "A" quarter-finals, although the scores of the game were close, including a controversial goal scored by Ripley in overtime in the 3rd game of the series. After the goal, Pirates general manager Trevor Bazinet stormed onto the ice, had an argument with the referee, and ended up hitting him. Drayton Icemen
The Drayton Icemen were a senior hockey team based out of Drayton, Ontario, Canada. They played six seasons in the WOAA Senior Hockey League. The Comets Drayton previously had a WOAA Sr. Hockey Team, the Drayton Comets, who folded after the 1997-98 season. The Comets were Intermediate "C" Champions on two occasions, in 1989-90 and 1990–91, however they were unable to capture the WOAA Grand Championship. 2005-06 Icemen Season WOAA Sr. Hockey came back to Drayton for the 2005-06 season, as they were awarded an expansion team, which was named the Icemen. In 25 games, the Icemen finished in last place in the 18 team league, with a 1-24-0 record. They scored 60 goals, and allowed 223. Clinton Radars
The Clinton Radars are a senior hockey team based out of Clinton, Ontario, Canada. The team was founded in 1994. They play in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. History Championships The Radars finally won their first WOAA "AA" championship in 2015-16 in their 22nd year of competition. The Radars repeated in 2016-17 to win their second "AA" championship. The Radars three-peated in 2017-18 for their third straight "AA" championship. Thedford Dirty Dogs
The Thedford Dirty Dogs are a senior hockey team based out of Thedford, Ontario, Canada. They have played three seasons in the WOAA Senior Hockey League. 2006-07 Dirty Dogs Season On October 7, 2006, the Thedford Dirty Dogs began their first season in the WOAA with a 10-2 loss to the Hensall Sherwoods at the Thedford Bosanquet Community Centre. Two weeks later on October 21, the Dirty Dogs played in their first road game, an 8-4 loss in Hensall. On November 11, Thedford earned their first point of the season, as they lost to the Wingham Bulls 7-6 in overtime in a game in Wingham. Nathan Perrott
Nathan A. Perrott (born December 8, 1976) is a Canadian professional boxer and former professional ice hockey player. He played in the National Hockey League with the Nashville Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Dallas Stars between 2001 and 2006. He currently works as a fire fighter at Bruce Power in Tiverton, Ontario. Hockey career Perrott was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the second round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, with the 44th overall pick. Unsigned by New Jersey, he became a member of the Chicago Blackhawks for three and a half years before being traded to the Nashville Predators in 2001.
