Waldemar Matuška
Waldemar Matuška (; July 2, 1932 – May 30, 2009) was a Czechoslovak singer who became popular in his homeland during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1986, he immigrated to the United States. Early career Waldemar Matuška was born in Košice, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia), and spent his whole childhood in Prague. His mother was a singer in the Vienna and Košice operetta theatres. He trained at a glassmaking school and worked in glassworks Poděbrady as a glassmaker. He performed on various musical instruments (mostly banjo, guitar, contrabass or drums with many different bands. In 1960 he recorded his first song ''Suvenýr'' (Souvenir). Later he became an actor and singer of the theatre Semafor. On the stage he performed with Karel Štědrý, Jiří Suchý, Hana Hegerová and others, starting in 1961, with Eva Pilarová. Košice

Eva Pilarová
Eva Pilarová, née Bojanovská (9 August 1939 – 14 March 2020) was a Czech jazz and pop music singer. Biography Pilarová was born in Brno. She started singing during her childhood, including classical music. She studied singing at the Janáček Academy of Arts in Brno. Her idols were Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. In 1960, she became a member of the Semafor Theater in Prague where she sang alongside performers such as Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr. In 1962 she left the theatre temporarily to sing in the Theater Rokoko, but in 1964 returned to Semafor. In the same year she also had a minor role in the film ''If a Thousand Clarinets'' (as a chorus-singer of the girl school). During her singing career she has had a large number of hits, including duets with Waldemar Matuška, Karel Gott and others. Velvet Revolution
The Velvet Revolution ( cs, Sametová revoluce) or Gentle Revolution ( sk, Nežná revolúcia) was a non-violent transition of power in what was then Czechoslovakia, occurring from 17 November to 28 November 1989. Popular demonstrations against the one-party government of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia included students and older dissidents. The result was the end of 41 years of one-party rule in Czechoslovakia, and the subsequent dismantling of the command economy and conversion to a parliamentary republic. On 17 November 1989 (International Students' Day), riot police suppressed a student demonstration in Prague. The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (Czech and Slovak: ''Komunistická strana Československa'', KSČ) was a communist and Marxist–Leninist political party in Czechoslovakia that existed between 1921 and 1992. Marta Kubišová
Marta Kubišová (born 1 November 1942 in České Budějovice) is a Czech singer. By the time of the Prague Spring of 1968, with her song "Modlitba pro Martu" ("A prayer for Marta"), she was one of the most popular female singers in Czechoslovakia. In 1967 she won Zlatý slavík award ( en, Golden Nightingale). Her song "Prayer for Marta" became a symbol of national resistance against the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, occupation of Warsaw Pact troops in 1968. During the Prague Spring, she recorded over 200 SP records and one LP, ''Songy a Balady'' (Songs and Ballads, released in 1969), which was immediately banned from stores. In 1970, the government falsely accused her of making pornographic photographs leading to a ban from performing in the country until 1989. She was a signatory of the Charter 77 proclamation.
