Electrola is a German record label and subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Based in Munich, its roster has included Chumbawamba, Matthias Reim, Helene Fischer, Brings, Höhner and Santiano. History On 8 May 1925 the British Gramophone Company founded Electrola GmbH in Nowawes near Berlin and received its record licence in December. Zlatý slavík ( en, Golden Nightingale) was a music poll and an award of the same name established by magazine ''Mladý svět'' along with '' Smena na nedeľu'' in 1962, and broadcast on television. While in the first year of the poll 797 votes were returned, the highest vote tally registered in its 29-year history was over 115,000. It later emerged that from the 1970s onwards the entries were frequently falsified by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ). The poll lasted until 1991 and was later replaced by Český slavík. Vlasta Průchová (12 July 1926, Ružomberok – 16 June 2006, Prague) was a Czech jazz singer. From the second half of the 1940s, she gradually built up her leading position in the Czech jazz scene. Průchová was the mother of the renowned Czech-American pianist and composer Jan Hammer. Biography Průchová was born to Czech parents who worked in Ružomberok, Slovakia at that time. She was baptised by the Slovak priest Andrej Hlinka. At the end of 1938, the family was forced to leave Slovakia, and they resided in Prague. Following the Second World War, Průchová had her first experience with jazz music. At the ''Filmové žně'' (Film Harvest Festival) in Zlín she attended the performance of the "ensemble of swing stars" Elit Club. Karel Krautgartner (July 20, 1922 – September 20, 1982) was a Czech jazz and classical clarinetist, saxophonist, arranger, composer, conductor and teacher. Life He was born in Mikulov, Moravia, in the family of a postmaster. His family were of Moravian German ethnic which have assimilated into Czech people. In 1930 he began to play piano. In 1935, after moving to Brno, he found interest mainly in the radio broadcasting and specially in jazz. He began to study clarinet on private basis with Stanislav Krtička (a notable Czech clarinetist of the first half of 20th century, he performed demanding part of the Concertino by Leoš Janáček at composer's request at the festival of contemporary music in Frankfurt am Main in 1926). The Goldene Stimmgabel (English: Golden Tuning Fork) was an annual prize awarded within the German music scene from 1981 to 2007. The prizes were awarded according to the number of records sold from October of the previous year to June of the year of the award, as determined by Media Control. It was established in 1981 by Dieter Thomas Heck, who hosted the television gala award show every year since then. It was broadcast on either ARD or ZDF until the year 2000. From 2001 to 2007 the award show was broadcast by ZDF alone.
