Waker-uz-Zaman ( bn, ওয়াকার-উজ-জামান; born 16 September 1966) is a Lieutenant General of Bangladesh Army and Principal Staff Officer to the Prime Minister, Armed Forces Division. Early life and education Zaman graduated from Defence Services Command and Staff College. He studied at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in the United Kingdom. He holds a master degree in Defence Studies from Bangladesh and Master of Arts in Defence Studies from King’s College, University of London. Career Zaman received his commission in 1985 at the East Bengal Regiment of Bangladesh Army. Zaman taught at the Non-Commissioned Officer’s Academy, School of Infantry and Tactics and Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training. General Mustafizur Rahman
Mustafizur Rahman (20 January 1941 – 3 August 2008) was a Bangladeshi Army general who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from December 1997 until 23 December 2000. Early life Rahman was born in Rangpur District, Rangpur, East Pakistan. He was a cousin-in-law of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman since he married Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Mujib's cousin, and was an uncle of Sheikh Hasina. Lieutenant General (abbreviated as Lt. Gen. and in contraction simply known as 'general') is a senior rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the second-highest active rank of the Bangladesh Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of lieutenant general. It is also considered a 3 star rank. History On 14 January 1993, Bangladesh signed the Chemical Weapons Convention and ratified on 25 April 1997. On 24 September 2006 Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention was formed through the passage of Chemical Weapons (Prohibition) Act, 2006. The authority was initially under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but was later shifted to the Armed Forces Division of the Prime Minister's Office (Bangladesh), Prime Minister's Office. The United Nations Angola Verification Mission I (I UNAVEM) was a peacekeeping mission that existed from January 1989 to June 1991 in Angola during the civil war.Meisler, Stanley.
