WAGGGS-Asia Pacific Region
The WAGGGS-Asia Pacific Region is the divisional office of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, headquartered in Makati, Philippines; Australia; and Japan. The WAGGGS-Asia Pacific Region services Guiding in the land area of Asia south of Russia-in-Asia and the bulk of the Pacific Basin. All the formerly communist states of Central Asia and the Soviet Union have developed or are developing Guiding in the wake of the renaissance in the region. For several years, communism repressed Guiding in Afghanistan, where it has newly returned, as well as in Mongolia, which had been the first Soviet satellite state since 1924. This region is the counterpart of the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). World Association Of Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association supporting the Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. It was established in 1928 in Parád, Hungary, and has its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with these bodies. Fiji Girl Guides Association
The Fiji Girl Guides Association is the national Guiding organization of Fiji. It serves 1,829 members (as of 2003). Founded in 1924, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1981. An annual camp is held. This lapsed for 20 years, but it was revived in 2007. The uniforms they wear can be blue or white blouses and their skirts either blue, green, or white. Girl Scouts Of The Philippines
The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) is the national Girl Scouting association for girls and young women in the Philippines. Its mission is "to help girls and young women realize the ideals of womanhood and prepare themselves for their responsibilities in the home, to the nation, and to the world community". The girls-only association serves 800,000 members, as of 2017. The first Girl Scout troops were organized in the Philippines as early as 1918 by American missionaries and servicemen. These Scout troops were directly registered with the Girl Scouts of the USA. Pilar Hidalgo-Lim and Josefa Llanes Escoda spearheaded the organization of a Scout movement for girls, and requested the assistance of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP). Nepal Scouts
The "Nepal Scouts" ("नेपाल स्काउट") is the national Scouting and Guiding organization of Nepal, founded in Nepal in 1952. It became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1969 and later became a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1984. The organization serves 19,952 Scouts (as of 2011) and 11,962 Guides (as of 2003).
