Pakistan Girl Guides Association
The Pakistan Girl Guides Association (PGGA) ( ur, پاکستان گرل گائڈزایسوسی ایشن) is the national Guiding organization of Pakistan. It serves 117,692 members (as of 2010). Founded in 1911 as part of Indian Girl Guiding, the girls-only organization became independent in 1947 and a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1948. Mission “To provide opportunities for the development of girls and young women, so that they become confident, patriotic and law-abiding citizens capable of performing their duties in the home, as well as community and country” Vision: We are a National Movement of empowered girls and young women working as the agents of change to build a better world. World Association Of Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association supporting the Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. It was established in 1928 in Parád, Hungary, and has its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with these bodies. Girl Guides (known as Girl Scouts in the United States and some other countries) is a worldwide movement, originally and largely still designed for girls and women only. The movement began in 1909 when girls requested to join the then-grassroots Boy Scout Movement. The movement developed in diverse ways in a variety of places around the world. In some places, girls joined or attempted to join preexisting Scouting organizations. In other places, all girl groups were started independently; some would later open up to boys, while others merged with boys' organizations. The Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) is the national Scouting and Guiding association of India. The national headquarters of BSG is recognised by the Government of India. The Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) ( ur, ) is the national Scouting organization of Pakistan and has 526,626 members (as of 2011). Scouting was founded in Pakistan as part of the British Indian branch of The Scout Association. The PBSA was officially founded in 1947, immediately after independence from the British and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in April 1948. The Afghanistan National Scout Organization ( ps, د افغانستان څارندوی ټولنه ''Da Afghānistan Sārandoy Tolena'', usually shortened to ''Zarandoi'') was officially founded in 1931 in Afghanistan by a royal decree.
