Vyšný Klátov
Vyšný Klátov (german: Beckseifen, Beckenseifen; hu, Felsőtőkés) (1332/5 ''Superior Turastukes'', 1397 ''Fel Teukes'', 1400 ''Superior Bokkenzeifin'', 1580 ''Ober-Beckseyffen'') is a village and municipality in Košice-okolie District in the Košice Region of eastern Slovakia. History In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1317 as a German medieval settlement. It belonged to Košice town. On February 28, 2010 a meteorite impact was recorded in the Eastern Slovakia, the first fragments were found on March 20, 2010 near the village. Okres (Czech and Slovak term meaning "district" in English; from German Kreis - circle (or perimeter)) refers to administrative entities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is similar to Landkreis in Germany or "''okrug''" in other Slavic-speaking countries. The first districts in the Czech lands developed from domains in 1850 by the decision of the Imperial government of Austria. Košice–okolie District (''okres Košice–okolie''; hu, Kassa-vidéki járás) is a district in the Košice Region of eastern Slovakia. It surrounds the city of Košice, which serves as the district seat although it does not belong to the district. History The Košice–okolie district was a part of Great Moravia until the 10th century. After the district fell apart, the area was incorporated into Abaúj and Torna, which were counties of the Kingdom of Hungary. The region was a part of Abaúj-Torna County from 1882 until the end of World War I. It then became part of the newly formed Czechoslovakia.
