Vladimir Semakov
Vladimir Semakov (russian: Владимир Сергеевич Семаков, ua, Володимир Сергійович Сємаков, born 11 May 1985, Izhevsk) is a Russian (until 2014) and Ukrainian (since 2014) biathlete of the World Cup level. He participated at 2018 Winter Olympics. Career Being in Russian team Semakov participated only at one Junior World (in 2006 in Presque Isle, United States) and two European championships (in 2006 he had his best career results competing as junior and winning three gold medals; in 2010 he won silver in men's relay and was 6th in individual race). In 2009-10 season he had some good results at Russian Cup so he was invited to participate at IBU Cup. On 2 December 2010, he debuted in Biathlon World Cup in Swedish Östersund where he was 61st in individual race which was the worst result in Russian team in that race. Oberhof, Germany
Oberhof is a town in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district of Thuringia, Germany. Located in the Thuringian Forest mountain range, it is a winter sports center and health resort. The 2017–18 Biathlon IBU Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union. IBU Cup is the second-rank competition in biathlon after the Biathlon World Cup. The season started on 22 November 2017 in Sjusjøen, Norway and ended on 17 March 2018 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. Hochfilzen is a town and municipality in the Kitzbühel district of the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is located in the Pillersee valley 5 km east of Fieberbrunn. Population was 1,147 in 2016. It is a popular winter sports resort, especially for cross-country skiing. Biathlon At The 2018 Winter Olympics
Biathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea. There were eleven events contested: men and women competed in each of sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start, and relay; there was also a mixed relay event. The eleven events were scheduled to take place between 9 and 23 February 2018. Qualification A total of 230 quota spots were available to athletes to compete at the games (115 men and 115 women). Countries were assigned quotas using a combination of the Nation Cup scores of their top three athletes in the individual, sprint, and relay competitions, during the 2016–17 Biathlon World Cup season. Biathlon World Championships 2017
The 49th Biathlon World Championships was held from 9 to 19 February 2017 in Hochfilzen, Austria. There were a total of 11 competitions: sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start, and relay races for men and women, and mixed relay. All the events during this championships also count for the Biathlon World Cup season. Host selection The second candidate city was Östersund, Sweden. Hochfilzen was selected as the host city on September 2 2012 during the X IBU Congress in Merano, Italy (27 to 20 votes).
