2017–18 Biathlon IBU Cup
The 2017–18 Biathlon IBU Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union. IBU Cup is the second-rank competition in biathlon after the Biathlon World Cup. The season started on 22 November 2017 in Sjusjøen, Norway and ended on 17 March 2018 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. The defending overall champions from the 2016–17 Biathlon IBU Cup were Alexey Volkov (biathlete), Alexey Volkov of Russia and Daria Virolaynen of Russia. Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen
Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen (born 12 May 1992) is a Norwegian biathlete. Early life Christiansen was born in Geilo, a centre in the municipality of Hol, to Randi Sjåstad and her husband Georg William Christiansen. His younger sister, Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen, is a successful freestyle skier. Christiansen began his career by racing in biathlon and cross-country skiing as a junior on the national level. In his youth, his greatest idol was Ole Einar Bjørndalen. Christiansen learned much about how to train from literature of and about Bjørndalen, and was inspired by Bjørndalen's training mentality, and started training a lot and hard, from a very early age. On the last day of the 2004 World Championships, Christiansen set a long-term goal of qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Alexey Anatolyevich Volkov (russian: Алексей Анатольевич Волков, born 5 April 1988) is a Russian former biathlete. Career He competed at the Biathlon World Championships 2012 in Ruhpolding, and at the Biathlon World Championships 2013 in Nove Mesto na Morave. He competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, in the individual and in the Men's relay. Martell, South Tyrol
Martell (; it, Martello ) is a valley and ''comune'' (municipality) in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It is located in the Martell Valley of the long river Plima, about west of Bolzano. The commune reaches from an elevation of up to the of the Zufallspitze (Italian: Monte Cevedale) which towers over the southeastern end of the valley. 2018 IBU Open European Championships
The 25th IBU Open European Championships were held in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna, Italy from January 23 to January 28, 2018. It was also a stage of the 2017–18 Biathlon IBU Cup. There were a total of eight competitions held: Single Mixed Relay, Relay Mixed, Sprint Women, Sprint Men, Pursuit Women, Pursuit Men, Individual Women and Individual Men. Obertilliach
Obertilliach is a municipality in the district of Lienz, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Geography It is located in East Tyrol, in a high valley of the upper Gail River east of the Kartitsch Saddle known as Lesachtal, between the Gailtal Alps (Lienz Dolomites) in the north and the Carnic Alps in the south.
