Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen
Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen (born 12 May 1992) is a Norwegian biathlete. Early life Sjåstad Christiansen was born in Geilo, a centre in the municipality of Hol, to Randi Sjåstad and her husband, Georg William Christiansen. His younger sister, Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen, is a successful freestyle skier. Sjåstad Christiansen began his career by racing in biathlon and cross-country skiing as a junior on the national level. In his youth, his greatest idol was Ole Einar Bjørndalen. Sjåstad Christiansen learned much about how to train from literature of and about Bjørndalen, and was inspired by Bjørndalen's training mentality, and started training a lot and hard from a very early age. On the last day of the 2004 World Championships, Sjåstad Christiansen set a long-term goal of qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Geilo
Geilo () is a centre in the municipality of Hol, Norway, Hol in Buskerud, Buskerud county, Norway. Geilo is primarily a ski resort town, with around 2,500 inhabitants. It is situated in the valley of Hallingdal, 250 km from Oslo and 260 km from Bergen, Norway, Bergen. The Bergen Line facilitated Geilo's development as the first skiing resort in the country, and it is still one of the largest. It is also known for having some of the most luxurious and expensive holiday cabins in Norway. Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen (born 7 April 1995) is a former Norwegian freestyle skier. Biography Sjåstad Christiansen hails from Geilo and represents Geilo IL. Hol is a Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Buskerud Counties of Norway, county, Norway. Biathlon Junior World Championships were first held in 1967 for men and in 1989 for women. According to the International Biathlon Union rules, biathletes qualify as Junior if they turn 20, 21 or 22 during the season from November to October, they qualify as Youth when they turn 17, 18 or 19 during the season. 2025 IBU Open European Championships
The 2025 IBU Open European Championships were held from 26 January to 2 February 2025 in Val Martello, Italy. Since the Biathlon European Championships are held as “open” competitions, the field of participants is not limited to athletes from Europe. Individual athletes and teams from North and South America, Asia, and Australia also take part in the competitions. The championships are the highlight of the 2024/25 IBU Cup season. Biathlon European Championships
The Biathlon European Championships are the top-European competitions in biathlon. The first edition was held in 1994, with sprint, pursuit, individual and relay. The number of events has grown significantly over the years. Till 2015, the competitions included also junior events but since 2016 the Junior Championships are held separately. Participation of non-European competitors Even though the event is called European Championships, the event is not restricted to European athletes only.
